Order date vs. build date

Order date vs. build date
I ordered an Arctic White 3ZR coupe with the ZTK package on 3/9/18, no update on anything yet. Is there a consensus as to how long it takes between ordering and getting a build date? I'm just drooling thinking about this car, and playing the exhaust sound on my phone daily.
I want it, I NEED it!

Dealers have to have an allocation to have a ZR1 order picked up. They can order without allocations but it's really a waste of time. ZR1 allocations are based on Z06 sales over the last year I think so small dealers are really out of luck at least for a good while. Check with the large forum dealers.

Out of luck period, or it will just take me some time to get the car? I'm ok with waiting, that's not an issue. In fact it will give me time to save for a hefty down payment. Is there any division of GM that I could call to figure this all out?

You would have to find a dealer with an unsold allocation.
Most have all their allocations sold with people on waiting lists.
Good luck.

Ok so my order has been placed at a forum dealer as of today, one that had an initial allocation. Officially on a waiting list, and it feels good that someone who has some insight is talking to me finally. Maintaining my initial order until one of the two comes through. I’m hoping for a few track days this summer, but if I get it by winter I will be happy. Thanks for the advice, definitely needed to make the change. I can’t wait to be a fellow owner.

Stewed over the weekend, and though I like the guy who placed my order, I want the car. Now that you all have educated me, and there is a forum vendor in my state, it is game over.
BTW changed to a blackout car with red calipers, red belts, race seats, and red stitching. Girl is gonna be mean!

Do you have THE allocation locked in or on a waiting list ? Too many people and dealers not getting how things work and your previous post indicates you are on a waiting list.

Ok so I ordered a car from a third dealership. I have allocation #3 of theirs. They got 4 total. The first two cars have been produced. This order happened one week after I placed an order putting me on a list. I cancelled the order with the dealership putting me on the list. And now I have an order with a true allocation!

At 130k to 150k your order will be picked up. GM needs to produce 4500 units to break ever on the program. JUST LIKE THE GRAND SPORT 2017, 2018 and NOW 2019 THEY ARE STILL PRODUCED!!! Its all about demand and orders. Grand sport is a great example. However the Grand Sport is 75k and ZR1 130K. Your talking about 2% of us buyer can afford the new ZR1. I placed an order for the ZR1 and if it does not get picked up my next car is an Audi R8.
