Fran's ZR1 is a bad machine. North of 900 RWHP on boost only, over 1000 WHP on spray. Fran's also a better driver than Mike. If they switched cars, Mike would run 11s and Fran would run 10s.

SERIOUSLY??? Did you actually watch the video??

Sure, he's got his own style which may not agree with all folks who are old enough to actually go out and buy a $140,000 sports car, but I will still give him credit for any number of things, one of them is actually going out and driving this car!!

Lastly, I thought he shifted very CLEAN AND FAST, if that makes me naive, so be it...

I agree. I saw nothing wrong with his shifting. I thought he was hitting 3rd great. One thing though, I can shift my old Muncie 4 speed with it's Hurst shifter way faster than I can shift my C6 Z06.

Listen and watch the 1 2 and 2 3 shift he's losing numerous rotations of the tire. A radial on that car he'd be in 10s with even the bog off the line.

Fran, you have impeccable credibility with this Forum so please clear this up since Mike can't/won't...what is the discrepancy here?

Was there a problem with the clock's in the right lane? Did Mike's car run 11.5 @ 123.72MPH and then 11.4 @ 130MPH? All I heard him say on HIS video is that his car ran 11.4 & 11.5 @130MPH but this independent video screenshot CLEARLY doesn't back up his claim and he hasn't posted any timeslips to clarify what actually took place, thanks. And I really do appreciate Mike's efforts, just need the WHOLE story

That's because Mike can't drive for ****... The Launch was horrendous, short shifting and I even noticed a slight jerk in the wheel when he shifted... I give him credit for catching the wave and making cash, but still don't mean he can drive...

my point exactly 11.4 @ 130 mph didn’t sound right at all... now 123 mph like exposed in the screen shot does lol still early to tell what the car can do but even with Michelin stock tires should be capable of hitting 10’s but he only got 2 passes in.

He missed 4th gear on that pass. That's why the low mph. It was a shitty day all around. We brought drag radials to bolt on his car but wanted to make a pass none stock first. Track was PACKED. He had a 2.4 60 first pass Bc he thought it would spin and it didn't. We then got directly back in line to run again and didn't run for well over an hour. He was supposed to be home at 1 but we were stuck in the lanes. So he left right after that pass around 1230. We will be back next weekend. Mikes actually a pretty decent drive but it's a brand new car. They are his first 2 passes EVER in the car. Also first passes for the year at the track and he hasn't owned a stick Car in over a year... so give him some slack. Not everyone will be pro first pass down the track.

Thanks Fran, I sincerely appreciate your honesty just as I expected you would be 100% forthcoming.....I don't know Mike from Adam and I'm sure he's a stand up guy and I'm trying real hard not to be critical but.....there would have been no shame in Mike admitting this on the video. Hell, when I took my 2015 C7Z out to the track early in the season for the first time it spun the tires all the way down the track due to a poorly prepped track and I barely mustered an 11.98 pass @ 123MPH but I was happy to own up to it lol

He did fine for the first time out.
Ahhh...the art of the correct launch rpm to hook without bogging or dropping too much rpm, and a 1-2 power shift with no chatter. The quest begins...
Hopefully, he’s got his own quiet “GO TO” spot to practice 1st and 2nd before hitting the track again.

Gotta finesse the manual at launch, use your muscles and you're toast. Nice video and thanks for sharing...

From watching his videos, Mike barely get's in any track time. Most of his runs are at call outs or a once in a blue moon trip to Cecil. Fran, I think you all need to swap cars!

So wait, everyone is supposed to click off the mag times or better first run out with their new car?? Tough crowd full of expert drivers I see. Reminds me how folks are giving Demon owners a hard time for not clicking off a 9.65.

In any event, the times will improve and it was fun seeing the ZR1 go down the track. It also shows what a few hundred extra rwhp looks like too.

Postponing because of this particular post is ridiculous. They will be back in the picture. This car will be in the mid to low 10's when it's all said and done. I can't speak for manual.....depends on the driver. Just my .02

I agree. That's pretty ridiculous.

This was the first time out for the car, first time Mike has raced it with under 500 miles, and Mike doesn't have a history of being a great manual drag racer. He was barely running 10s with a 800+ RWHP Z06. So those who think I and others here are judging Mike off of just this video are incorrect. He has quite a few (20+) C7 Z06 M7 passes under his belt. The car made 800+ RWHP during a good part of those and north of 950 on spray, again, he only managed 10s, I think he says 10.4 or 10.5 is the fastest he ever went. He openly admits he's not good at launching a manual. He smoked the clutch and broke the rear diff on his M7 Z06 because he is just hard on the stuff and his "dump the clutch" launches are hard to watch.

Its all about practice and having the right people in his corner. He now has the right people in his corner so we will work with him and get him to learn the proper techniques. Very few people can go to the track on a brand new car after not driving stick for over a year and make killer passes.
