Convenient how B2G happened to have guys timing the GT3 RS on the last day they were testing with the best weather and on the first day the ZR1 was testing

I have every confidence the ZR1 will beat that 6:56 time. It's certainly capable, considering it has wider versions of the same tires, a significantly better power-to-weight ratio, and likely more downforce, the biggest advantage Porsche has is their experience at the Nurburgring. Regardless, I'm not worried; the ZR1 has already started to make a habit of raining on lap time parades, hopefully they do the same in a week or so

If this is official and they are going to be as honest as for the GT2 RS on all the disclosures and disclaimers...then then kudos to them and since they timed it with the beginning of sales in the USA I hope it works for them as well..

Have to admit 24 seconds faster then predecessor is quite a bit but then again they pumped the price by another 47K as well to a quarter million...

Good luck..

Tremendous result for the GT3 RS. Kudos to their engineering team and of course, the driver.

I honestly have a tough time believing the ZR1 can beat this time at the Ring. There are so many sections where the RS went WOT simply because it has a high revving N/A motor where you can easily nurse it and dollops of power as and when required.

The ZR1 has tremendous power which inhibits it from going WOT around corners. If anything I believe, the ZR1 will be slower than the RS in multiple sections of the Ring.

The key thing that Porsche provides it's drivers is Confidence and Stability through their Engineering and Aero. Proof is the 500 HP N/A a$$ engined motor coupled with just Aero and Tire tweaks doing sub 7 seconds at the Ring.

As great as the ZR1 is, I would be happily surprised and elated if it can beat the RS time. Although, I have no choice but to being cynical.

Default ZR1 6:54 capable! ;)

Its 3560lb catching air like that successfully!? Basic physics has that as being less likely, Tadge!

IMHO It's not about being cynical..it's about not really understanding automotive engineering...

Engineering wise Confidence does not shave seconds... (cutting corners does).

Here is an engineering question to understand better:

Besides all the latest carbon appliques did the GT3 RS also apply OEM deleting, Weissach, Gas tank shrinking like the GT2 RS to shave off 24 seconds specifically for the nurb to improve the previous effort?

In case you guys want to read how this is being looked at on Rennlist.............

https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...-6-56-4-a.html

Lots of informative stuff, and the Vettes are mentioned plenty, just think it is a good read for you guys, having nothing to do with which car is faster, just how the Porsche Gt guys discuss and analyze things. Anyone whos an enthusiast can relate and enjoy the read. Hope everyone has a nice weekend

Cheers

Took a peek and I would say "you guys" have the same good and bad that we do... (I read somewhere rennlist was more technical?)

The Enthusiasts are enthusiasts and need to work on knowledge....
The experts are few and between and get beat down by enthusiastic silliness..
The amount of cool aid is about the same.. well maybe not..you have wayyyy less subscribers..

I think we should join forces lol!!!

Appreciate it. Have a great weekend too.

Cheers

That's where I learned how much those GT3 guys burn up their rear brakes trail braking all over the place. Tires!?

Yes, and the Mclaren's have had turbo lag!

I'm just speaking to a real part of the magic we are looking at in the Porsche's these days. The chassis are computer controlled on all these cars these days. Brain Vettes too! It ain't switchable.
If the stuff isn't working well enough in the 'Fat' Vette where the challenges are the greatest, I guess, that speaks for itself (as it currently is)!

Well; I know this is a ZR1 Nurburing thread but the GT3 was brought in so fair enough..

All that marketing money for the GT3RS 6.56 record and then this:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/20/pors...urce-says.html

With a picture of a GT3 associated with this on the "money people" web site can't be good?

Man! what a day. The bad news keep coming...

Porsche's head of powertrain accused of colluding with Chevrolet at the Nurburing.

According to AP Routers an ever so diligent stop-watcher has come forth with damming evidence that not all is as it seems at the Nurburing. Equipped with a special transparent material detector camera and puzzled by the strange and never occuring possibility of two competitors brands attempting record runs at the same time...the unidentified onlooker captured the moment of truth for the world to see:

Joerg Kerner, head of Porsche's powertrain development and track results marketing confessed during police apprehension related to previous misdeeds: brutal competition pushed me to it!! and Tadge needed more free time at the track...it seemed like a win-win ...at the time...
