Default ZR1 GM Performance Air Intake - available now

https://weaponxmotorsports.com/produ...06-zr1-lt4-lt5

The GM Performance warranty friendly air intake is now in stock and available for sale for the ZR1. It is just the air box with a less restrictive filter, not a complete air intake system. This is the first aftermarket air intake Corvette has offered since the 50s though, so hopefully we're going to see some options if they're trying to lock down the ECMs.

The ZR1 has a 17hp increase in power, bringing your beast to 772 HP!

UPDATE: I got the first batch of intake tubes in for use with the GM air box! They're first come, first serve and we will be shipping by the end of next week, 6/22.

Your short term fuel trims are in the 5-6% range vs 4-5% prior so I'm fine with it and wide open throttle gains, especially in the mid range are HUGE! We picked up at 20whp peak and even more torque in the mid-range.

They can be purchased for a limited time with the GM air box for $799 or separately for $249:

Why didn't they just put this on it originally right from the factory and tout a higher HP number? Or is this a money grab?

People like to modify their sports cars, its a satisfying feeling. If they would have started with 772 and not offered an intake, more people would be upset. IMO.

Yes, no dyno, no info other than the stated numbers. I have one on the way that I'll be testing soon. Like any restriction though, it is usually seen at higher flow, so I would guess that we will see the split happen over 5000 RPMs with the peak gain.

For the money, it's about $32/hp, but then again, the base ZR1 is about $162/hp LOL. Bargain for the guys who want to keep the factory parts and warranty; however, we all know we'll see big gains getting rid of the air bridge and leaning the AFRs out a little more.

I will have some great testing completed by the end of the week

Great, look forward to seeing the results.
Will you be posting the different dyno chart so we can see the differences and where it may or may not make additional power?

I would also like to see installation pics if you have the time. The instructions from GM are pretty good, but nothing beats the DIYer's own pics.

Ok, I'll try to document the process with pics and tips. I'll post once I'm done.

I clicked the link to read more about this thing and I see it fits all three engines BUT it reports 0 hp gain for the LT1. Is that correct? If so why would anyone bother?

Ben, is it true it voids the engine warranty if NOT installed by a GM certified shop? The press I'm reading implies that by saying the warranty stays in place if installed by a GM certified shop.

If so, I guess that means we need to take this to our dealer for install? Seems pretty silly given how simple it is to install.

on supercharged cars making the inlet to the blower less restrictive pays pretty big dividends

You should see performance increases as soon as the boost rises up around 3800 or so.

That's my thought as well but then again the press articles may also mean that it's just a warranty extension to cover the air box through the 3/36 bumper to bumper if dealer installed but 12/12 if not dealer installed. I think GM bumps up warranty on actual accessories when dealer installed. So perhaps who installs it has no effect on the engine warranty but it is unclear.
