I hope everyone realizes that they do not actually race these cars, this whole thing is one big staged show. They simply take the performance numbers from their previous tests then have the cars finish in that order. If they actually raced there would be too many variables including driver skill, bad starts, etc.

I didn't realize that before. But then I watched the last race and compared those times with the test results they had for those cars earlier in their reviews, and they were exactly the same.

So it's not real drag race then.

And they only got a 10.8 seconds for the ZR1.

I think for the average driver it’s really hard to get a 10.8 with the ZR1. It would be more like 11.0-11.2

Never thought I would see a comment in my lifetime about quarter mile times for a production car that equals "And they only got a 10.8...." Lol! It is an awesome time to be a car enthusiast.

This was on TV last night on Velocity. While the data at the end of the race my be based on prior test, the actual filmed racing is real. They show how many attempts it takes to get all 12 cars, and drivers, to actually start and complete the race. If a car does not leave, or has an issue, they do it all over again, to the detriment of the car's health. The McLaren had to be driven around to cool it off after they did several launches in a row, the ACR started loosing 2nd gear, etc...

I think it is safe to say the ZR1 will be solidly mid-pack given the cars it is competing against.

Right they have to do the "race" multiple times because of bad launches, wheel spin, etc then they edit them all so they finish in the order of previous performance tests. Like I said, it is completely staged.

If the actual filmed racing is real, a car that ran a 10.8 previously on a prepped track might run an 11.50 on an airstrip and lose to a 11.3 car on the airstrip....how can they fix that other than "fixing" the actual finish line order ?????

Watch the video below. If the current time link does not work, just jump ahead to the 7:00 mark.

Certainly does not look staged to me.

So at the end, they are teasing a half mile drag race and switched out the ZTK car for the low wing ZR1. That’s gonna be good!

Really? If it wasn't staged then why wouldn't they just go with the results after the first race? Instead they do it many times and edit them to finish in order of previous performance tests. Nothing about this is an actual drag race.

I think the video is on the MT web site but you have to be a subscriber to see it at this point.

A stock Z06 M7 Z07/stage 3 will 1/2 mile around 150-151. Surprised it didn't pick up more than that.

Non ZTK with the Cup 2s would probably be best.

I thought that is what they used for the half mile run in the end of the drag race video?
Yes a bit of a disappointing result. I believe they did the run at Edwards AFB which is at about 1/2 mile high elevation so this may have hurt mph some. I think the 720 has done ~175mph in the half before. I would expect the C7 ZR1 to be in the low 160s, at least, in good air. The C6 ZR1 has done a best of 157mph.
