Default Underneath the new ZR1

I decided to make a video of the new ZR1 up on a lift. It covers a few interesting details that you can't see from above. I hope you enjoy!

Awesome, thanks for sharing.
Where did you get the stud extensions?
Great idea, I like them.

They are from Reverselogic, they are pretty handy if you take your wheels on and off a lot.

I get the deflector to direct some air into the exhaust tunnel to add some cool air to that area, but wonder why you add 2 plates to cover the front holes. Must be something to do with the air flow. Why not have deflectors there also? Wonder if this could help the Z06? Reminds me of the black plastic deflector under the differential on my c7 z51, my C7 Z06 doesnt have that piece.

Seems like the new intercooler exit ducts dumping into the wheel well would add heat to the brake area. Same as the LG solution, guess it's not significant haven't heard it being an issue for the LG system.

Wonder if the rerouted brake cooling duct is better or just due to the intercooler and had to be that way. Might be able to add a tube on the Z06 if better.

When did that brake duct kit come out? My Z51 just has the "flaps" that bolt to the LCA and the ducts blow into the wheel well like the C5 did.

Thanks a lot for showing us some the unseen part of the car, I’m wondering if you can share the ZR1 Spring part number if you got a chance.

Almost all cars with cheek mounted radiators have a similar setup these days. To me the only thing I’d be worried about is creating
more lift but I’m guessing it causes a negligible amount.

Been out at least a year. I think they started on 2017's (see part number below) the new part is the tube leading to this setup.

GM part number

2017 C7 Corvette Z06 Track Front Brake Duct Cooling Kit 23412348 (23412348)

Looks like it supplements the stock ducts and catches air with the scoop on the LCA vs. the nose. On the ZR1 they feed the nose ducts to the LCA scoops. Wonder if the LCA flaps stay in place or if the new scoops replace them?

Correct, the lift is negligible. The open wheel designs and front aero pieces create plenty of leaving the fender-well area, that what little positive pressure created is insignificant.

Regarding the hot air and the brakes, The air exiting the radiator is likely no more than 240* with hard driving. Brakes can get well over 500* ~250* difference. It may not help to cool the brakes (that's what the brake ducting is for) but it sure won't heat them either.

If you look at the opening in the nose it actually splits. One channel feeds the tube that blows into the duct that is under the LCA. The other one goes in to the wheel well area where it catches the deflectors like the Z06. The big difference is this route straight from the nose in to the duct that routes to the center of the rotor, that should work a lot better than just trying to catch the air hanging under the car.
