One of magazine reviews mentioned that the record was done with a passenger and not in ideal conditions. So, still there is a chance to improve

Man if I just could get my car. Now I got a goal to match or beat randy. Indeed there is some small sections of mistakes but we all know how intimidating road atlanta is. That 100% perfect lap is nearly impossible. We will see some 1:24 laps indeed on slicks for this car. Man I cant wait till fall time!
If you have one coming in go enjoy it at Road Atlanta! I see faster than 1:24, slicks should pick up a good bit over Cup 2's.

Brutal fast, imagine the brake and tire tab at the end of the weekend? $2K tires, $600 pads, plus putting aside $$ for the rotors after the next event. Car was a missile.

Holy consumables! That is not for the faint of heart either way, driving or paying the tracking costs for a weekend!

A 100% lap is for sure near impossible but it is possible to come close. Of course we do not know how much practice he got in before he set the lap. There are many points that could of been cleaner and I believe a second or so was left on the table.

Dang that high? I was just about to say I wouldn't mind paying that but I forgot all about our exchange rate of 2-1. Lol. Premium which is the highest offered here is $11.63/gal which works out to $5.81 for you guys.

Soooo impressive - serious speed. Great run, driven without regards for personal safety, but Randy left some time on the track. I bet there's another 3-4 tenths to be gained, but a record's a record
Matt Farah should take note from Randy, a Pro who listened to the engineer's advice (Matt's video review, laden with clumsy manual paddle-shifting, exposed his stubborn pride and lack of skill). Randy definitely left the A8 in "D" and it performed very well. Andy Pilgrim did the same, and lauded the A8's intelligence and performance.

Car and Driver dinged the transmission in "manual" mode also. Uh, it's an AUTOMATIC. Chances are it's faster/smarter than the human behind the wheel. Mero's record lap at VIR was also in an automatic equipped ZR1, and Mero NEVER touched the paddles. I guess writers "think" the know more than Randy and Jim. And they are, of course, dead WRONG.

If Chevy said "Yeah, it shifts like a ZF8 or the 10L90 now, check it out!" then I'd write something about it. But they didn't. So why even bother shifting it manually?

Where are you located at 11.63 a gal? That's steep! The way I drive that'd be 11.63 to drive about 10miles...lol.

Not that they know more but they have a habit of trying to use torque converter autos like dual clutch transmissions and then getting mad when they don't operate the same. Just a way to highlight a weakness that they already knew after driving any A8 C7 over the past 3 years.

The ZR1 is MEGA fast and a lot of car to handle, so for most, the last thing they need is to be add shifting into the scenario, but for me...I'd be goin old school third pedal and that'd be that.

Burning Brakes
Not sure how often this is updated... But here is data for reference.
1. Dodge Viper ACR (Mk V) Chris Winkler 1:26.54 654 / 1536
2. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C7) Randy Pobst 1:30.18 659 / 1606
3. Porsche Cayman S (987) unknown 1:44.00 295 / 1406
4. Lotus Exige unknown 1:46.70 192 / 907
5. Honda S2000 unknown 1:51.00 239 / 1260
Also, will it just be Randy who will be running the ZR1 for best times now?

Belize, Central America. My Avalanche and Silverado do not like that idea of 11.63/gal.

Was wondering why no times were ran by Jim Mero or that other guy that did the ZL1 1LE at the Nurburgring. Not to take anything away from Randy.
