Every 2019 ZR1 Recalled: Air Bag Sensor
Perhaps this explains why Mark Reuss’ airbag did not deploy at the Belle Island crash — with that then triggering GM’s internal investigation and today’s recall.

The Problem: Hard braking or acceleration may cause the sensing diagnostic module to enter a fault state. As a result, the diagnostic module will not provide crash sensing or deploy the necessary airbags in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The Fix: Dealers will reprogram the sensing diagnostic module with updated software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Chevrolet manufacturer GM did not immediately announce an owner-notification schedule. Owners can call the automaker at 800-222-1020, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit NHTSA's website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.

I thought GM stated that all safety equipment worked as designed in response to the Detroit crash. I don’t remember if the airbags deployed or not.

It's weird the recall shows it's from today. We we're notified at the end of May this was out and to make sure and complete on any incoming ZR1s.

This ZR1 recall is getting more curious. What the picture is of is an official GM document; please note the on the right hand side within the white inner box. So it was officially filed with NHTSA on May 31st, yet it only became public on June 14th.

A friend and I were discussing this earlier today. I looked at my maintenance receipt to confirm and I had the issue fixed on June 12... That being said, it was already in the service dept's system to flag any ZR1 that showed up well before it was made public

It became public before June 14th. I received my notification through an OnStar Recall Notification in my OnStar iPhone App on June 11th or 12th... and had the update done on the 14th.
