700hp N/A Motor?
What iteration of the vette would this monster be more suited for? The Z06? Is this a scaled down version of the LT4 or an all new engine? I’m guessing new?

I don't see how they can make a 700 horse NA motor and meet emissions and durability standards. If they can I'd be 1000000% for it. Supposedly they were going that route for the C7 Z06, couldn't meet emissions and resorted to the blower which sucks for track use/weight/heat etc.

That would be killer if true. What is the highest output NA V8 in a production car?

You have Trump to thank for repealing Obama's fantasy CAFE mileage and emissions goals that were meant to force us into electric cars.

nah. to certify that engine it would require more smog equipment than we had in the 80's lol.
It will have the LT5 probably 750hp. if it ever happens. from all the articles i just read it sounds like the LT5 is the likely candidate not some mysterious NA high hp engine with a flat plane crankshaft.. just my opinion.

Mercury Marine and GM have been known to work together in the past of course with the original LT5, guessing this is the motor they're referring to and figure it has a better shot at fitting underhood of a Camaro than Corvette. If they detune it slightly to be emissions compliant and stuff it in a 6th gen, I'd consider it over C7 as I'm a NA fan even at the expense of a little weight.

There's more than a handful of 1st gen LT5's that have to be close to that by now.

Does it really matter? That's a very specific (and irrelevant) category. It's almost like if Mercedes were to brag about the highest output, under 4.0l, 8 cylinder with 4 doors, a DCT and active areo. Cool but the thinner you slice things the less impressive they become.

Highest output NA is the Ferrari 6.5 V12, almost 800hp

Big displacement+bigrevs = big power
All it takes is engineering + bags of money

Strictly speaking, the Porsche 918 is "naturally aspirated." The 918 is rated at 875 hp with an assist from an electric motor. Without the assist of the electric motor the naturally aspirated V8 is rated for 600 hp, just a hair more than the 458 Speciale.

Why would GM be interested in producing a 700 horsepower naturally aspirated motor, when they already have a tested and proven 750 horsepower supercharged engine? What would be the advantage of N/A?
