That is an understatement! You could see the car stops pulling for the several seconds the driver takes to change gears. Almost a Single speed vs Auto !

Did you watch the video? When the Z06 hangs pretty well then falls back so fast it is because the Z06 is in neutral trying to find a gear!
Not saying the Zr1 is not faster but the poor driving was bad.

Did you watch the video? The ZR1 would have won anyway but 3 already have said the guy in the Z06 cannot shift. too bad you didn't watch it and see that is the case.

All 3 that say he can't shift. Prove it. Post your own videos. The auto shifts faster no big deal that is only part of the equation. The ZR1 is faster.
I do agree, it would be much more interesting if they would have done this with both cars manual and switched drivers. The ZR1 would still win.

No need. One plus one still isn't three.
The M7 "hangs" one time, on the dead dig from 8:36 in the video, when the driver hits the rpm limiter at the top of first. The shifts in the rest of the runs are fine. In the instances where you can't hear it, you can see it in the fall and rise of the nose of the car.
The A8 in "auto mode" simply shifts faster than anyone can shift an M7, and naturally, this difference is most evident when the cars are side-by-side. The A8 can also execute most shifts with no interruption in power between the engine and wheels, which simply can't be done in the M7. Why do you think the Demon, Chrysler's "drag car", is only available with an automatic?
If both cars were equally powered, the M7 would probably make up the time lost during shifts, because of lower parasitic losses in the manual transmission. But since the A8 car also has more power, the time lost during shifting the manual is much more obvious.
