Really ? not more ?
My 1LZ is 100+ pounds lighter than my friends 3LZ
confirmed weight by our DMV, as we pay duty on cars by weight and C02 emission .
mine 3484 , his 3615... both with full tank of fuel.
Great driving look like you had a ton of fun, but have you checked into how much timing is pulled from ZR1 when it gets hotter ?
I know its not a Z06 drop off, but there are rumours that it still looses HP.... find those and keep up with 720S on the straight and get a better time :-)

I don't have anything to record KR but I really haven't seen a difference in top speeds during the sessions. I do think it will make more power with cooler air so we'll see what Oct/Nov bring for lap times.
Fantastic driving Sean!! Would you say that your buddy with the 720S is equally as talented behind the wheel? Also despite the wing on the 720S serving as an air brake it looked like you were able to brake a little later. You definitely had more balance going through the corners. Thanks for giving us some perspective on how these 2 super cars perform head to head.
I'll update my original post but one small update. I went back this evening and looked at the data from the session where I was trying to stay ahead of the 720S. I had a weird PDR glitch occur where it stopped recording lap times even though it was recording data and video. Fortunately, Pi Toolbox can determine lap times by using the GPS and timing data but they don't show up in the video until I noticed the issue and refined the finish line. It turns out I actually set a new PB that session of 1:14.67.

Watched the video after my post above.
I preferred your race line to that of the 720S driver. Interesting to see the periodic lightness/wiggle in the rear of the 720S upon turn exit and acceleration.
And if I were waging a bet, I think Poor-sha would hit the 1:13 first.

Thanks for posting the video and pictures. I really enjoyed them Looks like a blast.
So impressive that you were able to match lap times with the 720. There is a McLaren dealer about 5 miles from my house and I frequently stop to drool at the 720. Pictures do not do that car justice. Wish I had the money. It’s great that the owner is able to afford to drive that beast on track. Can’t imagine what the track insurance is for the day with that sucker.

Thanks Sean, great info from a trusted source! I looked at McLarens, for about a second lol. The ZR is so planted I amazed how easy the beast is to control.

Thanks for the post Poor-sha. Always fun to watch your videos. One thing, am I going blind or did you change out the CC rotors for steel?

Thank you for posting this! The review was great, and I really enjoyed the vid. I have always had at least two corvettes in the garage for the last 30 years, so yes I am a Corvette guy - but the 720S is a gorgeous car and would be my choice if money were not an issue. But it is... Now if GM would just get my ZR1 built...

Thanks Sean.
Great video... very impressive driving from BOTH of you. Clearly the 720 is the faster car on the straights... but it appears to be quite “twitchy” entering and in the middle of the corners. NOT a comfortable car to drive (at least not for me)... whereas the ZR1 is very comfortable (and predictable) driving at speed (for me anyway).
For all the extra speed, lighter weight, multiple higher cost, etc I found it very revealing that after all those laps you were essentially still right on his bumper.
I love the McLarens... think they’re gorgeous cars... but my ZR1 is a fantastic car too, and for the money I couldn’t (wouldn’t) make the switch... certainly not to use as a track toy. I didn’t buy my ZR1 expecting it to beat or equal cars like the 720... funny thing is it appears my car is closer than I’d have ever thought.

Interesting viewpoint, Poor-sha. Fantastic post as usual.
I have a little different experience. I find my 720S extremely stable and forgiving at CoTA, where I have probably 150+ laps in the 720S. Unfortunately my ZR1 order got delayed, so I picked up a non ZTK 7 speed car to have fun in the mean time, so that's not the best comparison, but it felt heavy and sluggish compared to the 720S on the same day running back to back. I find the 720S turns in beautifully, but I probably do have pretty slow hands. My old 458 in comparison did have slower, lighter steering, but it also suffered from more understeer than most any other exotic I've tracked, even with aggressive alignment and Trofeo Rs.
Was the 720S on 19s or 20s?

No truck stop scale. DMV, government scale when registration cars... We do pay duty pr pound car so they are accurate.

Wow, you win the eagle eye award for catching that. I have no idea.
