ZR1 build quality

ZR1 build quality
So I have been eyeballing the ZR-1s....
Went to a large local dealer to see it up close in person. A couple of comments:
1. The wing is hideous (although I understand that it is very functional on the track).
2. The example that I saw in person had horrible mismatched panel gaps and orange peel everywhere.
There is no way Chevy can justify charging 150k for this car.
Disappointed.

So far, there are over 1100 people that disagree with you, but you are entitled to your opinion.

Interesting. My impression and that of everyone to whom I have shown my 3ZR equipped ZR1 is the surprising high level of interior build and exterior paint quality. They compare it to the C6 Z06 I am selling and say the C7 ZR1 is a substantially more refined automobile. Twelve years of R&D and technological progress have yielded positive results. I personally rate the ZR1 as nearly comparable with the paint and interior build quality of my four year old Turbo S Cab. That car is a vastly different little jewel.
The big wing is a matter of taste. Most seem to love it as essential to the character of the car. A minority, like me, prefer the smaller wing and that's why they made it optional.

As as far as the wing, I love it and would have never ordered the car without it. Obviously a matter of preference however you are in the extreme minority on this one. Hey, the car isn’t for everyone but there are plenty out there to fill each allocation GM hands out.

I'll join the naysayers too. Every ZR1 I've seen and/or been in has had great build quality, NO orange peel and straight line (with good gaps).
Oh, and by the way, I absolutely LOVE the big wing....wouldn't have a ZR1 without it!

Fake news!
Wing - go with short wing or remove and sell on the Forum... problem solved.
Horrible mismatched panel gaps - not a chance.
Orange peel everywhere - not a chance.
Perhaps you were looking at a re-paint salvage, check the Carfax/title.

I was going to ask the same thing "compared to what?" A pagani? A laferrari? Or just a 720s? I mean it's still a Chevy. It isnt a one off or hand built car jesus.
Or... Maybe the one the OP looked it was a bit jacked up? Happens to any mass produced car.
maybe that's why that particular ZR is still sitting on the lot? Who knows. Now we'll never know because he or she got beat down fast. Shame.
would have loved to see pics of OPs claims though.

2020 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I don’t own a ZR1, would like to, however I did get to see the entire display at Carlisle this year and every one of the ZR1’s there had great paint, fit, finish and interior detail.

Why is ZR1 quality dramatically different than the non ZR1 C7’s? Do the line workers see the build sheet is going to have a bigger supercharger and then paint the car and screw the panels with more precision?

All the C7 quality is equal. These sorts of posts are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo transparent. Go back to your mustang forum.
