ZR1 vs Z07/Z06

wow , I'm not a ZR1 basher but Z06 is a dinosaur next to the ZR1? I always thought the Z06 was a bit much (and I own one) but it's subtle compared to the way over the top ZR1. Don't like the front end and the big wing you can keep. Also think the wheels on the ZR1 are not at all attractive. As another poster said beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Glad you love your ZR1
The thing that rings true is the beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I bought a used 2015 C7 Z06 3LZ M7 (without Z07) because that is what I could afford. If I had the money, I would probably consider the ZR1, mostly just because it's there, but "having enough money" means I have to have enough to also remodel our home, and not impact our other discretionary spending, in order to get the "boss's" (my wife) permission to spend that kind of money on a car that I don't drive much (I'm retired, so I don't commute). I also own a 2001 Suzuki Hayabusa, which translates into a Z06 with 900 hp and no traction issue (just a wheelie issue), so for me that takes away from some of the motivation from getting a faster car when the Z06 is already traction limited at street / highway speeds and I don't plan on tracking the car. The fact that the ZR1 looks significantly different than a regular C7 or C7 Z06 means it draws attention, which can be good or bad depending on the circumstances (like which public lots you feel comfortable parking it).

I just wish GM would hurry up and build my ZR1 so I could enjoy getting bashed on...

You really should just cancel your order now that you know what a piece of crap, flop, ugly and overpriced car it is. A Mazda would give you all the power you could ever really use anyway and save you $$$. Hope your ZR1 gets built soon!

I am so disappointed, I shipped my Unicorn South, so I could drive it more The weather here since getting the BAW has been a BIG disappointing cold rainy flop.

I have a different take on the ZO7 and ZR 1. I want to be on the correct side when GM announces the ZR1 production is over. Since M7 versions are very rare, 20% +/- being ordered, I would have a hard time finding a Torch Red existing. Adding a M7 ZR 1 is analytically stupid, but I will have two M7's in my garage. I love my ZO7 but without a doubt will enjoy the ZR 1 even more when it arrives in January.

Wow, just a little pretentious and special aren't you?? Sound more like a Porsche jackass than a Corvette guy. Get off that pedestal, REAL longtime corvette enthusiasts don't talk down to each other like that. Many very financially secure corvette guys stayed on the bus when the C7 came out. The looks just don't do it for many. Doesn't mean they can't make one happen in an afternoon. Many are waiting for the mid engine, in the meantime may buy an CPO S63 which would be money better spent than on a 140K chevy that just is not on par with other 140K cars. Great car, very happy Gm stepped things up, but just not for many. Remember Corvette guys are the cool guys. The REAL special idiots buy GT2 Rs's........

Anyhow, C7 GS, Z06, and ZR1: with each step up, we add a little more weight, and more than offset it with more HP. I'm sure it helps, but obviously we're also getting closer to point of diminishing returns with every step up. With tighter tracks, we could hit this point even sooner.
3425 (GS Z07?) lbs, 3525 lbs (Z06/7?), 3650 lbs (1ZR w/ZTK); the weight creep is real. I've decided the best compromise is the Z06 w/Z07 and ordered that; we'll see how it does, and I sure hope it doesn't overheat : )
These are all awesome cars, and besides the big power jump, I picked Z06 over GS since I don't like the much softer front spring setup of GS/Z07. I don't think there's any need to be defensive for any choice.

The car tested was a C7 Z06 with the Z07 package. This was in mid 2017, so it did not have the magnetic ride calibration update. I have yet to see a sub 7:10 run for the C7 ZR1. My guess is the ZR1 would run around 7:05.

That 7:22 time I've highlighted is C6 Z06/7. That's what I wanted to confirm.
