Default ZR1 vs Z07/Z06

What am I missing? Compared to a Z06 with the Z07 package the only real difference vs a ZR1 is 100 more horsepower. Yes the shocks are slightly higher performance but other than that isn't the only real difference between the two cars 100 horsepower? And that 100 horsepower costs $30K-$40K more. That is a very expensive 100 horsepower. What am I missing?

Same driver...yeah, what a dinosaur the Z06 is. Nice justifying your $140,000 purchase. And yes, I will own a C7 ZR1, but I'd never say douchbag things like this.

On the street you are correct and would only notice the HP difference. The track is where the ZR1 will beat the Z06. I will personally just add a bigger blower to my Z and enjoy it. I actually don’t care for the look of the ZR1. But that’s just my preference.

For me I’ve just always wanted a ZR1 since the C6. And with this possibly being the last FE ZR1...I knew this was what I wanted.

I think the horse power is even more costly on a ZO6 when compared to a non ZO6 vette...

A lot of what you're paying for is that exposed, book matched carbon fiber. Yes, you're getting a well engineered power boost but you're also getting much more advanced aero compared to a Z06, way better cooling, and a bunch of other little things like the brake changes and some trans/diff hardening that all 2019s got. If all you're going to do is drive it on the street then the aero isn't a big deal and whether you like the looks is a matter of taste. However, you can absolutely tell the power difference on the street. Under 5000 RPM the ZR1 feels like a slightly snappier Z06, but over 5000 RPM is it an entirely different animal. Whereas the Z06 starts to plateau the ZR takes off - it's like it's on the VTEC yo!

Not even close the forged motor of the Z06 lends to make power easy. Huge aftermarket. 1 Zr1 in the 9's hundreds of faster Z06's on the street.
Easy car to go fast. The Lt1 is fragile compared.

Wish I could find a Demon or ZR1 to race with. My z06's with 800 plus hp are a different animal. A lot snapper than any stock Corvette.

Do not forget you get to tell everyone at the gas station it is a ZR1 and it is 1 second faster on a lap at the track for a merely double the cost. If money is no object then nothing wrong. I like the hood and the big wing and the bigger blower. Just hope a 720S toot its horn 3 times on a straight.

Exactly! That’s why I say one is better off to mod a Z06 for more power if they have one VS upgrading to the ZR1. Just can’t justify the cost if not tracked. A Z06 with a bigger blower will compete just fine on the street with a ZR1. Now the track would be a different story 👍🏻

Do you have dyno sheets to show the rear wheel HP of your "800 HP" Z06's?

Just curious.

It is almost always more cost efficient to mod a lower level car to be faster than a better performing one. The point is that you are still stuck with the lower trim/less desirable model...if that matters to you.

The ZR1 is the best and most powerful modern production Corvette ever and it makes the Z06 look like a Dinosaur.

Yes I get that. Like I said the ZR1 excels at the track. If one like the looks of the ZR1 I understand the purchase. Yes it’s the top of the line Corvette.

In all seriousness , why don't you find one of the hundreds of "cheap and easy to mod" Z06's to race? Or maybe you could race yourself. My money is on the silver 15. VROOM,VROOM!!

You "might" be right if talking only MSRP for a GS v Z06 v ZR1. But this is the separator, the ZR1 is sold AT MSRP. If/when the ZR1s are sold with same discounts as the GS & Z06 with big to HUGE discounts off MSRP for any "NEW" (not previously owned) model including '19s the differences become apples to apples if all 3 receive same % off. So the HP difference 460/650 is not so large PRICE wise after discounts. But of course if your load up one, trim levels will play a big part if disparate.
