Default Closing Speeds

Here's a session from VIR today. The closing speeds from the ZR1 to every other car on the track are just astounding. This was the red run group with open passing.

Amazing driving, amazing car, and some seriously scary speeds. It looks like a video game when you're using cheats!

Thanks for sharing, love to see a ZR1 as it was meant to be driven.

You're running 170+ mph on some parts of that track, most of the cars on the track with you couldn't dream of 170 mph speeds.

Sean,
Looks like you surprised everybody with your closing speed. Do you still have the carbon ceramic brakes on your car or have you switch over to iron discs?

Bill

LOL...really? That looked like amateur hour. The lineup of cars was more like the starting grid of a Lemons race rather than a "red run group." Not sure what the intent was as I know you're not a rookie, but that was hardly anything impressive.

I'm fully aware things are skewed here compared to the rest of the country, but there were three GT2RSs, two P1s, several Performantes, and 80 or so other proper supercars last week at a standard Laguna trackday, some of whom broke into the 1:20s. Trust me...you'll have a lot more fun driving with a group where you're better aligned by experience, car type, risk tolerance, and demographic.

Please post some videos from the Laguna trackday. We would all love to see some proper supercars racing! McLarens and ZR1's just don't do it for me anymore.

LOL...your comment. Really?...instantly earns ignore status. Well done, snob. Clearly you have not followed OP's many documented videos, most all of which are heavily supported by detailed, empirical data reports, some times in supplemental videos, both from his track time in his previous C7 Z06 Z07, and his new ZR1. He is often giving credit to other cars and drivers, where merited. His videos are intended to provide fellow Corvette enthusiasts (and a wider audience on Youtube) with experiential information, should they either take their ZR1 to or encounter someone else's ZR1 at the track. Note the ZR1 and McLaren 720s video posted in this channel by another CF member. recorded by the same driver and posted in CF and on his Youtube channel, where he points to the incredible straight line speed of the McLaren 720s. The quality of vehicle competition that you so haughtily refer to is not something one can control living on the opposite side of the country, nor when he visits a track. That being said, Poor-sha has chased and chased down instructors and elite level drivers in various forms of 911 GTs, 911 cup cars, McLarens, Ferraris, Lambos, and other "proper supercars". To insult the entire racing crowd in the video, and the OP, with your elitist comments, in this forum for Corvette Enthusiasts, ironically displays your lack of pragmatic understanding, despite your claim to be "fully aware..." Despite all of that, you ask the OP to trust in your unfounded expertise. LOL...really?

which one were you driving and what we're your lap times?

don't worry, we'll wait for your answer..........

What is posted is what will be common at 95% of track days for a talented driver in a fast car. No one can decide who else comes to the event. Just shown up and run it. You talk like he cherry picked the event or session to make himself look better. If you haven't noticed he's posted sessions with more equally matched to slightly faster cars as well. Get over yourself.

Never said anything to the contrary...I was just impressed by how easily the McLaren gained distance in the straights, especially since the ZR1 has the HP "advantage."

I thought your ZR1 was going to get to find out what S2000 tastes like.

Very cool but at times looks very tedious. Your patience is to be commended. Hope you're having a great time!
