The real question is, if there were a sweepstakes you'd won, taxes covered with a stipulation you had to own the car for 5yrs but then had to return it...which car would you take...
GT2RS or ZR1
Which one and why?????????????

In this hypothetical, can I have the driving skills of Lewis Hamilton as well?

All I can say about this video is that we are dealing with fantastic cars and I happy we can finally rely on "regular" guys video accounts, first hand experiences, and feedbacks to make some sense of these cars.
Frankly, I am tired of the marketing non sense.
Danke!

Yes they are. Not dumping on the car just on the dealer markup. My other car is a 991 Turbo S Cab. It is fantastic also.

You guys should see this video. It shows what the Z06 is capable of against the GT2RS. Both cars driven in anger with good drivers.

You will need to choose translate on the CC as the video is in German.
Cliff Note:
Laptimes as follows-
GT2 RS: 1:27.56
Z06-07: 1:28.64

In that case, I'll take the ZR1 without hesitation. Reasons: [1] I like the long, sleek look of the Vette better than the upside down bathtub profile of the Porsche. [2] I prefer the exhaust sound of the Vette. [3] It makes me feel better while driving an American supercar than a German supercar. Minute differences (in either direction) in performance don't matter to me.

You will be surprised. Same Pro driver. Here's a video from a German magazine that shows how the Z06 is in the same league as the GT2RS.

Over one second is pretty significant. Now here is Laguna Seca with the same driver, again not even in the same league no matter how you try to spin it.

Once you start chipping away weight from the C7 Z06 and ZR1, you will see how the GT2 RS fails to be the good proposition. In addition, over time a driver will be faster in the C7 Z06 and ZR1 because they aren't a limited run and will not subject to investments or speculation.
Essentially with a Vette, you can drive the living daylights out of it on track and not be precious.

Let's translate that this way. Keep in mind I am not even talking about the ZR1 here. Access today to the GT2 RS starts at +$450k. Access today to a brand new Z07 is under $90k. All in all, with a good driver and the same exact tires (Michelin Cup2 R N0 spec), let's see how the delta closes.

So now you are saying once you mod the Z06 it can get faster? This isn't about modding cars, how much they cost, or your opinion on worrying about driving an expensive car. This is about which car is faster and without a doubt there is no comparison between a GT2RS and a Z06. Not even close. Facts dont lie.

Same old arguments until the end of time.
- Corvette far better value for performance
- Porsche more track oriented/reliable
- Sometimes Corvette faster, sometimes Porsche faster
In this case the GT2 is mostly faster than a ZR1(accounting for tires) and WAY faster than a ZO6. You can tell in the video at Sonoma two things. #1 the Z06 is probably on Hoosiers due to the lack of any tire noise at all, and #2 it's definitely better driven.
That being said, hardly anyone is buying these anywhere near msrp. The cost gap is enormous. That can't be ignored. But for the money you get a faster than ZR1/Z06. That can't be denied either. Every fanboy of every brand wants to argue every point to make it make sense for what they have. No manufacturer has all the benefits. Just accept it.

Chevy,
Although checkmate1 has mentioned both cars are on same tires I have no reason to doubt your two supporting arguments.
So a better driven Z06 with race tires can keep up and pass a not so fast driver with regular tires GT2RS...got it..
So where in this video can you make the conclusion that the GT2RS is way faster than the Z06?

No he didn't....... He was surmising if they had the same tires how the delta would close. The video doesn't say, nor does he even claim to know whose driving there to know any details of what's going on.
But don't even bother trying to base the abilities of these two cars on this one unequally matched driver session.

I won't. BTW, there is another Z06 video showing a GT2RS in difficulty...but for now I'll simply refer to them as real world. Like stated, let's see if more of these real world videos show up and then catch up...
