Default Performance Intake (RVK) availability

I just received a call from my dealer that I am on board based on their latest allocation. They indicated that the Performance Intake can no longer be included from GM. Not sure if it is discontinued or only available Dealer Installed. However it still is on the Build Website. I hate to loose 15+ HP. Anyone have info on this?

This is the first I’ve heard if it. My car was ordered before it was available from factory so I had the dealer order it and install during PDI.. have you asked the dealer if his parts guy can order one for you? There are vendors on this site who sell them.

That’s interesting. I decided to buy one on my own. I got it much less and prefer to be the one who installs it. I do wonder if it’s true though.

Veteran corvette tech that did mine during PDI told me it was more involved than he thought it would be. The hitch is the tubing that needs to be removed and re-installed without cracking. Saw a vendor who sells it say “recommend dealer install”.. not doubting your capability.. just passing along info I had.

The installation instructions that come with the intake are rather complicated. It's not a simple installation.

You can buy it online for about $ 460.00 I believe that is what I payed for it a lot cheaper anyway. As far as installation I will let you know in a couple weeks after I pick up the car. I can tell you I did the K&N carbon fiber tube and air box on my 18 ZO6 and it is not hard if you are a little bit mechanically inclined. I would not pay the almost $700.00 to order it from GM!

I ordered mine at a much lower price and had it installed during PDI by the selling dealer...it’s still being advertised as I type this right on the forum so it’s maybe still available but not able to factory order for some reason...maybe uniformity of assembly line or something?

I wonder if GM is concerned about not having had emissions certification with it installed.

I appreciate the caution. I’ve heard it is slightly complicated but I’m not too concerned. If I can’t accomplish this it will be really tough when I tear into the motor as soon as tuning is available.

In my younger days I built 302’s and 327’s , transplanted them in 55-57 Chevy’s.. converted autos to manuals.. swapped rear end gears. Two weeks ago I nearly busted a finger replacing the battery in my C6 Callaway due to the tight fit caused by the intercooler resevoir. I’m pretty cautious about getting into the deep end of the pool these days. 😂

This is the part # 84152141.....I'm going to buy it from the dealer and hopefully they"ll just put it on when the car comes in?
If you put it on yourself you void the warantee.

As far as I know, these intakes were always installed at the dealership as part of the PDI (not at the factory). I confirmed this with Mike Furman. I will be taking delivery of my new ZR-1 tomorrow. So I should be able to confirm that the performance intakes are still a go.

For what it's worth, my ZR-1 was delivered with the performance intake (dealer installed), 11/21/18

If you put it on yourself you don’t void the warranty. If you drop something in the air box that gets sucked into the motor wiping it out then yes it would be void.

Reading the instructions, it looks like changing the air filter in the performance intake would require many of the steps of the original install. Can anyone confirm that?
