Default $10K over MSRP...OUCH!!!!

I was astonished when a friend told me there was a new 2019 ZR1 in the show room of a local Chevy dealership less than 5 miles away from my home.
Apparently they had one on the show room floor and I quickly ran out the door to see if it was true.
The sales guy told me someone ordered it and then bailed before the dealership could cancel the order.
It was the first time I had ever seen one off my monitor.
If anyone is looking for a torch red 3zr and willing to pay(10K over MSRP ) it's at Richard Chevrolet in Ct. It does not have the ZTK package but it did have red Calipers.
The small wing actually looks a lot nicer in person...

Why would this dealer want to cancel the order if it is actually worth $10,000 more than the MSRP?

So they could then sell that allocation to another customer who would customize it for themselves. Of course then it would be worth $20,000 over MSRP.

I'd be surprised if the dealer turns down a serious offer at MSRP which is a serious amount of profit. They don't like to see buyers head out the door because it can be a crapshoot as to how long the floor expense king will sit on the floor. That market adjustment is just fishing - gives what the dealer feels is negotiation room. (still BS)

Most dealers require a deposit before you can order a ZR1 (Mine was $10,000). After the order reaches a certain event code then the deposit becomes non refundable whether you cancel out or not. So if the dealer is asking $10,000 over MSRP and the customer put $10,000 deposit down then the dealer has a potential profit of $20,000 without even giving up what they make by selling it at MSRP. My TPW is 12-10-18, Torch red, 3ZR, ZTK, M7, Competition seats, red stitching, red calipers, carbon flash painted wheels. I'm at status 3400 right now. 11 days and she will be born.

Wow, $10,000 deposit to order a car. Hard to believe that anyone would agree to that.

Well, it's popular now but that could change quickly. The C8 could cause it to sit on the floor for quite a while and moves when he gives it away at 30-40K off - big loser. That 10K+ leaves plenty of negotiating room and can be all BS. I'd be surprised if they let you walk out the door if you offered MSRP that gives them over $10K of profit.

Oh, I see, it's popular now. So was investing your money with Bernie Madoff at one time.

The C8 is going to have to be some car to out do a Zr1. For those of us fortunate enough to have one of these car's we know. you Have to see them in person, no picture can capture the awesomeness of these cars, they really are supercars!!!!!!!!Personally I prefer my engine in the FRONT power coming from the REAR something to be said for that combination too.
