Default Totaled ZR1 #6

Ok, there are probably more than 6, but I know there are 6 that I have seen. I have been slacking lately. This is the first totaled one with a manual transmission that I am aware of. Probably just a little too much front frame damage for me to take the plunge. It looks possible that someone stuffed the rear spoiler in the trunk instead of just stealing it.

Again thank you all for the kind words and support, I'm floored. I've really enjoyed being a part of this community through the Z06 and ZR1 and it's this community that has me determined to stay with a C7 in whatever I do next.

Conventional wisdom is always not to discuss these things publicly but I'll give a brief description of what happened now and then like I said, I'll try to break it down more so others can learn from my incident later. I was at a DE on Shenandoah and was mostly there just to hang out with my friends. I drove up on the Super Sports and was taking a guest for a ride. It was a cool morning and I thought the tires had enough heat but I crested a hill and had too much throttle which spun the tires and turned the car. There was no room or traction to save it and I hit the wall.

The wing was damaged in the accident. Frame is ripped off at the front but the drivetrain is probably ok. The car has a full AP Racing kit on it that is probably ok and Katech rims.

Poor-Sha, do you know who's it is/was? Interesting to have a full AP Racing kit... and Cup 2's on the car, vs a slick or Hoosier?

Best Regards,
Dave

Yes, it was me. Car was on Super Sports (which are also likely fine). I'll eventually share all the details on what happened but it sucks. Luckily nobody was hurt.

Thanks. It's a strange experience not just to walk away from a wreck like that but to realize that you're faced with a do over moment. The hardest part was figuring out what I was going to do now. In the end, I've really enjoyed sharing what I've learned about the C7 and figure I will take it to the next level. You can get an idea of what I'm thinking here:

Holy crap, that's your car?? Wow man. Glad you're ok. Been watching some of your threads, and some of your videos. What a shame. Poor ZR1.

Sorry to hear about the car Sean. Very happy you are okay. Was hoping to see you and the car at the Glen in 2019. I know you will be back.

Wow Sean! That was a big hit! So glad to hear you’re ok. I can’t believe that 2 people I know that are true track rats lost their cars in the same week. This a good friend’s 2018 GT3 with $35K in mods from Road Atlanta a week ago. He’s a great wheel like you—he was running consistent 1.30.2-.6’s before this happened in turn 4. It’s very sobering to think if it can happen to you guys it can happen to anyone! But cars are replaceable! You are not. Looking forward to your return to the track!

Ted

sobering, especially considering the source. Good to hear no one was hurt and hope you have track wheels again soon.

Sorry to hear that. It always makes one feel bad inside when that happens, and it takes a while to get back on our horse. I know.

Bon courage.
