This is somewhat correct....IF.....your paint and finish is pristine already. That's why I wanted to see your paint. If it's pristine with no spider webs, swirls or marring, then you can do the Detail Spray without much problem.
I'm not going to bore anyone here with my technique as I think just about any guy already knows how to wash a car. To the fellows here who seem to take issue with someone who dares to voice an opinion about Corvettes but does not currently have one in his garage I can tell them I am currently in the process of acquiring my 11th Corvette which will be a C7, M7, Z06.
Sir, you are more than welcome to voice your opinion here on CorvetteForum. But do NOT diss others who don't share your views. An adult-like debate helps to share different options WITHOUT trying to tell others they are wrong. That's how we learn....even old dogs like me can learn new tricks.

you brought up the topic, so I had to ask. Apparently you are the only poster disagreeing with most everyone on the thread. Just maybe your old school way has not held up to more technical and effective methods of detailing 2 stage paint surfaces. What you consider to be a great shine with just applying some detail spray under closer inspection by folks who detail for a living would show up many paint flaws. I am 100% sure of this.

^^^I love it. The detailing boys and their purveyors of high tech concoctions have some great stuff for cleaning your windshield also, only problem is they cost 135 times as much per unit volume and clean 1/2 as good as ammonia and water.

This is too much work.
Wrap the entire car (or as much of it as you can afford) with xpel.
then add ceramic coating.
From that point on, you just need to wash it and it will look like new for several years.

Claying unless done regularly takes me at least 4-5 hours. If you clay once a month or two (assuming its driven only weekends), then it can be spot done. But overall its a very difficult thing.

That seems like a long time. I switched to the clay mitt and use heavily diluted waterless wash as a lube and it's about a 30 min job (I go very slowly).

Preps the painted surface by cleansing the paint. Very small defects in the paint can be seen in the paint. The whole process of paint correction is to minimize these defects. Your procedure does not resolve issues in the paint. See images below. Detailing now is a lot more technical than what you have learned back in the day. There is a lot more science and there is some art involved. See pics below.

Get a Nanoskin glove. It will take a fraction of the time and do a better job. Clay bar is old school.

4) No need to clean rust off rotors post wash on ZR1
The first time you drive your ZO6, the rust will be gone with the first brake application. Removing it by hand is a waste of time.
Otherwise, some good tips in here.

Was that in your driveway or on a gravel road?
Either Post some pictures or write down the last 4 of the VIN of - what was it?.. your Z06/07?
BTW - the clear coat can't be fixed by A-Damn's magic smell good look good spray or what ever it was, and it really needs to be wet sanded to be corrected...OH -or maybe there is an Adams spray-on wet sander we should all be using Mr Troll. Please go find another forum to nest in.
Thank you.
