Default Rear Gears

I understand on manual Vettes 3.42's are the standard. With the C7/C8 Corvettes I don't see much info on Gear Swaps as a means of a performance upgrade.
After C5's which have available 3.73's / 3.90's etc....I don't see any such availability for the later models.
Could I ask why?

Gas mileage, traction. The supercharged engines have plenty of torque at low rpm.

It would be interesting to try a set of 3.73 or 3.91 gears with the 7 speed manual or more importantly with that 8 speed auto. There are plenty of “overdrives” built in to both transmissions...and the lower gear set should make both cars, auto and manual, a BIGGER blast to drive. The lower gear set would allow even more fierce acceleration in the car, and even bigger smiles...in my opinion.
Also, a higher ratio...3.42 or 2.73s would actually spin the rear tires faster when you leave the line then would a set of 3.90s...and the other advantage would be the fun factor...or even more fun factor with the gear set.
Drag cars can be seen running 4.88 or 5.13 gear sets or even lower...and they don’t have those 7 spd or 8 spd transmissions for street and highway use.

I have NOT driven a new ZR1...That said, the above discussion is sound reasoning..

When I owned a Shelby GT500 it made 600ftlbs to the tires at 2700rpm....then peaked 800ftlbs at 4100rpm....that thru 4.10's. What I found amazing is I would never use 6th gear as with the stock 331's I'd need to be at 75-80mph to tach 1900rpm. With the deeper gears I began using 6th gear all the time whenever I exceed 60-65mph. With the 8 speed manual I'd assume the same to be true with 8th gear. The car was way better from a dead stop with 331's but seemed very flat in 3rd+ gears. The BIG difference with the 4.10's was rolling onto a highway in 3rd..........right into boost !!
With the C7's my curiosity was not being able to even find gears or rear gear installers. I was wondering why. 3.42's are a great gear. But...I'd bet 3.73's would be a blast !

Higgs, do you have enough traction to be able to hook the extra rear-wheel-torque?

No, but that's with or without gears and since the gears will make the M7 way more better to drive around then WOT is moot.....

Whats great about having a tuneable ECM is I can do stuff to the car then tune for it, like if I wanted to limit torque output by RPM and by gear I could do that.... ;-)
