That wasn't 100% the exact quote, but I remember reading posts about this, does anyone have any more information?

Did they do this for both Manual and A8 transmissions? Curious to know how well the cars did.

they drove the 1990 zr1 24hrs in ft Stockton,texas,back in the day

I haven't seen anything about the new 2019 zr1,being driven that way

It was driven at VIR, not sure if Auto or manual tho. They also beat the Ford GT time by accident.

I believe this is when they set a lap record at VIR just weeks after the ford gt did.

That's correct. Jim Mero was the driver. He did it with the automatic in drive and the PTM in Mode 5.
