Glaurung has arrived!

Ongoing issue...registration. It is a CA car, with CA smog, bought from Illinois but delivered and sold as new here in CA. But somewhere things got muddled and I now have a sub-30 day IL sticker but must somehow register it here. Exact procedure to be discovered by Andy at great expense to his personal time. My question is, for anyone who has done courtesy delivery in CA, what was your registration experience? Did you drive away from the dealer with CA registration as if you had bought any other car off the lot?

- All of my performance cars have been named after dragons. Tiamat (2003 M5), Ancalagon (540iT), Scatha (Z4MC) and now Glaurung. In this case the car is named after the "first" or "father" dragon in Tolkien's Middle Earth mythology. Ironically I ordered the ZTK package and Glaurung was a wingless dragon, but whatever - the name suits the car. es.
My wife named ours "Mr. Sparkles".

-The hood does look different from most angles, very slightly different. BUT from angles where the light hits the hood's slope and the adjacent panel's slope at the same angles they DO look the same. So either there is no actual difference in the paint and it's all caused by the paint hue shifting due to the angle of reflection...or there is a minute difference but it's impossible to tell for sure because of the different angles of the panels. I suspect the former.

Been very busy, but will hopefully update with new pics soon. For now I will point out some things I noticed as I may thus far have been the only owner to drive both low and high wings on his car...
- The high wing certainly offers better rearward visibility, but the low wing isn't as bad as I had thought it would be.
- I am 6'-2", so I can reach over either wing to load the trunk from the rear. The high wing makes this more of a stretch, but I found myself quite careful (paranoid!) around both wings. So psychologically I would say they are more similar than different. The ZTK wing tips do interfere with side loading though. I find it easiest to load from the rear, that includes loading the roof, which isn't hard for someone of my height.
- The low wing actually has a little less clearance than the ZTK when using your fingers to open the trunk lid. There's not a lot with either wing, but I can open the ZTK without pinching a knuckle and had to over-under or flick the trunk up with the low wing.

For those of you curious about the rear view difference between the ZTK and low wing, here are pics from my car. Mine was PDI'd incorrectly with the low wing, then swapped the next day to the proper ZTK wing. Visibility is not bad with the low wing, better in effect than it looks in the pic, but much better with the ZTK wing.

Another trip up north, with some new pics. Note that I now have smoked Glaurung's side markers which great clean up the look of the car in Shadow Gray.

I love that color. Almost ordered my 19 Z06 in it. Two things,
1. If anyone here didnt know by now all the exterior mirrors are painted by the vendor who makes them so they will always be slightly off in color compared to the BGF parts.
2. Any exposed carbon fiber part is ALSO painted offsite. That fact has created a lot of heartbreak over the years. Some are slight. Some are more. I didnt order the exposed carbon hood even though I love it because it would drive me nuts. So just the roof. I can deal with the small side rails just like the mirrors not very noticable. The hood is a big one my OCD would ruin the car.
Also, that SGM paint is very touchy from angles. The vendor for the mirrors has had issues on making them match.
Regardless, awesome story, great writing/narration. Looking forward to more story telling in the future. Best of luck.
