That SUCKS BIGTIME... let me guess: NO RAINCHECK? (snowcheck). I’m down here in Scottsdale bitching about the worst winter weather we’ve had in the 9 yrs we’ve come to AZ... but now realizing how lucky I was to get sunshine mid 60’s weather at Spring Mtn on 1/25 & 26.. Global warming my A**. Are they testing out the newer all season Michelin tires for the ZR1? they told us they were planning to do that soon when I was there.

It wasn't too bad, lol.
we ran 2 programs today, and no real issues...the am sessions were wet and cold of course. but the students had a blast! the whole afternoon, save for the last 5 minutes of the last session, when we had a bit of a flurry...so ended the session. it's been above average wet winter this year...on the plus side, the spring should bring a huge bloom to our neighbor, death valley! it's pretty cool when it happens, which isn't often.

You guys run Cup tires on some of your cars right?
At what pressure do you set the tires in weather like that and how do you keep heat in them so you're not sliding all over the place?

on day 2 of the zr1 program, we put the cups on...if it's not raining, or too cold lol. we start them at 28 psi in the morning, and see how each driver does...so if the temp goes up throughout the day, so will the tire pressure, as well as if the driver is pushing harder. we typically see an increase of 6-10 psi...in the summer, or if the spring is warmer than usual, we start at 26 or for the real heat, 24! the sweet spot seems to be hot psi at 34 to 38....
we weren't running a zr1 program yesterday, just a level 2 on the north/south track and a COS on the east course. all on the super sport zp tire. in this kind of weather, it does take longer to warm them up, but they work pretty good still!
fun times!

Say...can you PM me Richie Hearn's email address. I heard he's working over there, now. His Dad and I used to race a SCCA B/P Corvette together back in the day and I'd like to reconnect with him.

A buddy of mine is on vacation in northern Phoenix, AZ. Sent a pic of snow on his lawn chair. Very unusual weather. This week should be better. I'm in SM March 17th. Hope it's nice then.

Hi!
Snow is very unusual for us out here. I’ve lived in the area 30 years, and have maybe seen snow 10 times in the ground!
I’ll get with Richie tomorrow and let him Know about you sir!

Well...my ZR-1 (VIN 1878) just got built yesterday and we take delivery at NCM on 20MAR, so eventually, I s'pose I'll be coming over to Pahrump for a visit. Hopefully, it won't be a time when there's snow in the ground like that, Cup tires or not.

Instructor
No snow and almost 70 degrees. After the ride with the instructors , I got way to much car for my talents. Class was excellent and the entire staff was a pleasure. I even enjoyed the instructor jumping me for driving out of control. His feedback was right on. Regrouped and slowed my pace and made sure to hit my marks. Ended up smoother and a little faster. Don’t misunderstand my comment, I was not in the same time zone as the instructors, but for a first time on a track, I had fun and did not use any of the 15K deductible!
