Default ZR1 class at Spring Mountain is first class

I did the ZR1 owners class at Ron Fellows last week and my girlfriend did the ZO6 class. I just can't say enough about our experience. From the accommodations to the professionalisms of the instructors it really is first rate I was thrilled by the experience and recommend it to everyone who has purchased one

of these awesome track cars.

My wife and I did the Z06 class. Looks like it's going to be interesting which one of us does the ZR1 school. I was fortunate to get 2 Z06's a 15 and a 16. No such luck on the ZR1.

Y'all are going to have a great time. They love it when couples both take a class. And April shouldn't be too hot then.

Clearly I need to figure out who this is in the class. I'm the only guy that brought my own helmet

Cool and great meeting you in real like Bill. Yeah the class was great as always and the instructors are fabulous. Even though the instructors were driving Z06s I never felt like I was being held back when I was directly behind them. When I get home I'll have to post the last session of the day where instructor BC was sliding around his Z06 and leaving two dark tire marks out of every corner because his tires were shot. I was really happy to see them incorporating PDR data in to the classroom and a debrief with Tommy after one of my outings yielded me almost 3 seconds the next session.

A couple other car related observations. First, these cars were really well balanced and I didn't feel any of the aero push that I experienced with my car. I asked about ride height adjustments but Rick wasn't sure as it sounded like they had experimented with it. I did get a copy of their setup sheet which I hope is ok post but here are the key specs.

Front:
Camber: -2.2
Caster: 7.4
Toe (total): -0.06 deg (not sure if this is toe in or out, I'm assuming it's toe out)

Rear:
Camber: -1.8
Caster: 0.8 (didn't specify direction but I assume this is laid back)
Toe (total): -0.12 deg

What lap times did you guys get? I assume it's on their 2.2m configuration, same what they used for the C6 ZR1's.

I would guess the rear caster is positive, like the front. Negative toe would indicate toe out. Surprised they use toe out on the rear. I'm curious as to what made a noticeable handling difference between their cars and yours (their alignment spec isn't all that aggressive or different from the suggested track alignments).

I'm going on June 24-25, they no longer offer a third day. It will take me some getting use to a C7 ZR1 (haven't even drove a base C7 on a track yet).

Yes, it's the 2.2 mile N/S course. My best lap was a 1:46.54, the hot lap they give you data for to compare is a 1:39.82 and they instructor did a 1:45.0 with me in the car during the demo ride. They were also running the cars at the high wing angle which on my car just made the problem worse.

Interesting... the "hot lap" data files they gave my class (last September) had a "best" of 1:40.60 (for the auto) and almost 1:42.00 best time for the manual. They must have given you guys updated data files.

My "Instructor" lap was 1:45.5 with me in the car... almost the same as yours.

Have fun. Did the class back in 11 when I got my ZR1. When you get home, maybe you'll be able to keep me in your sight (and Ill be driving a slower car than you)...

I will see you at the March 26/27 Class, and yes I am also bringing my better half. They can be as active as they want to be, they will be offered a ride along with a instructor, and sit in on classes or view from the comfort of the Condo.
