Please. Would anyone disagree that with equal professional drivers this race is much closer? Look at 4:05 on the vid and how timid the launch of the Z was. Race is so far lost at that point. It does however show the launching prowess of the GT and it's superiority in that area.

If I look on the C7 ZR1 fast list I am not surprised that there are not much good drivers out there. Nobody is running the 1/4 or is practicing.

I've never understood the value of these sophomoric attempts at dick measuring. It proves only that two middle-age jockeys can press a gas pedal and hold a wheel straight. Yep...literally anyone can do this in a '69 Nova and destroy a $500K FGT. The only beneficiary is the guy getting paid each time a knuckle-dragger clicks 'play.' But, hey, it's America and I don't fault a technology manager at a museum for capitalizing off the backs of sheep and 15 year olds that will never get closer to supercars than their screens.

It's fun, thousands race every day, I did this before there was any $ involved, the demographic is 18-44...... but who's counting...

. I’ll add you do a good job of it on your channel. I may have been overly harsh about the dig race especially..nothing personal.. I guess as a ZR1 owner myself I took it a bit too personal myself. I do feel that getting experienced competition would be helpful for making useful comparisons on your vlog. On that note, any chance you might try to get a run set up with the folks at HorsePowerAddicts? They sound like they are eager to play.

Lol, indeed I have. Have you ever done any road course racing/training? WAAAAAAY more skill involved...AND in this case, is what the ZR1 was purposefully built for. In fact, there's a helluva lot more skill required to navigate my sim rig on COTA, than there is to do a highway pull..unless you factor in those pesky everyday citizens headed to work or soccer practice getting in your way. Brooks knows all about Hwy 27

Hard to believe that the ZR1 is that much slower than a Ford GT.

Your 3 yr old would be accurate if one of his excuses exclaimed a dismal performance by the ZR1 driver. Look at the distance between the two at the finish, it's absolutely comical. And what's even more hilarious is he wants to take the wing off for the next race. Ok?,Same driver? That should shave a foot and a half off of a 1200ft. gap. Cant wait!

It really isn't that much slower, but there are a lot of other factors that come into play. After having done 1/2 mile races, I learned that not one car that I raced against that had an aftermarket supercharger installed could make a run and then get right back in line and do it again due to heat. My naturally aspirated car could do the half mile run and by the time I drove back to the staging area the temps were in the normal range and I could hot lap it at will. Every supercharged car had to wait to cool off. The ZR1's cooling is probably much better than an aftermarket supercharger system, but it is still 755 hp and that creates a lot of heat.
So without knowing what runs the ZR1 had just done prior to the FGT race, if it had just made a hard 1/2 mile pass and came back to the waiting area and just sat there, the under hood temps and heat soak would be huge. I would bet that the car could be down 60 to 100 hp if the IAT's were super high. We also don't know what setting the suspension was set in, the rear tires air pressures, etc. And the most important part of the equation, the driver. If the driver doesn't understand how to get a stiffly suspended road racing car off the line, he just won't have a chance, even against a car with 100 less horsepower. The driver of the FGT is much more experienced just judging from his past videos in other fast cars such as the 720's, etc.........he knows what he is doing.
If you want to see how fast a ZR1 really is, a run from 60 mph to 180 mph would give a much better showing. As long as the car is not heat soaked, I think it would beat the FGT no problem, even without 100 octane.

Don't sweat it, you are posting on the ZR1 forum, and there are some rather large egos here that can't stand to see "their" car lose.
Does seem like a driver mod would have helped that ZR1, though.

It's always interesting to see people quote magazines to brag or defend their car, especially lap times where the tests were often done at different times, different weather, different drivers and so on.... you can see how a slight error or few degrees in cooler weather can effect a race in just a 1/4 mile, now compound that over a couple minutes in different conditions and drivers around a track and it's pretty easy to see that unless you have both cars racing the same day, it's meaningless for cars that are close in performance...
If you look at all of the ZR1 and GT traps that day, the GT was always higher.... as for staging the the races, that's just hater talk... you can hear me in the video offering to try again, even did the roll race since the ZR1 had trouble off the line, and then offered to race again the next day if he could find the tool to get the wing off...

Dunno, how many used ZRs are out there Point being hes comparing a car 3 times the cost new. Maybe I will race my ZR against a Base mustang and go post on the Stang Forums for effect
No, it's laughable he feels the need to post on a ZR Forum. The ZR was only a few MPH than his all mighty 450K Ford. My C6ZR ran 157 stock so what does that say
