In case it's not, you claim it's over my head, while
using magazines as your crutch while I provide actual manufacturer quotes and links? You can't be this daft...

I hope it's time to put this thread to rest. Two different cars and two different drivers. Who cares anymore. The GT won this one. There's always another day and another race. Move on. I bought my ZR1 cause I love what it is, a great value for the money and a georgeous car. The GT is a great car as well. I've owned a number of GTs (2005s, 2006s) in the past. Wonderful cars and world class in their day. I never wanted the new Ford GT, just a personal preference. But still a great car and great heritage. But so is the Corvette. Great heritage, great value and awesome performance. Competition makes everyone better. Enough said.

There is one thing for sure we live in a time of very awesome cars let's enjoy them all. The ZR1, ZO6, Ford GT, GT500, McLaren 720,s etc etc. The list is really long, I just feel blessed to be alive in this great time for CARS for I love a lot of them.

Having already acknowledged that I believe the GT is a fantastic car, (critical of Ford for having farmed most of the effort out to Multimatic) I should add that the car fair ‘s horribly “streetwise” against almost anything, but especially a Vette. There is virually no luggage space at all. The “frunk” bin is large enough for one medium size back pack. The cabin is so cramped that my right shoulder and wifes left would touch if either of us moved in the seats. (The two of us combined are under 300lbs).There is no additional space for anything and the seat adjustment is virtually nil. Pedals adjust up and down for leg length. I had multiple occassions up and close to them at Road America and concluded the car wasnt even suitable for our 150 mi trip there (wife and Shih Tzu) with two overnight bags total. If you plan to get one, scratch the idea that you are getting a GT (Grand Tourer)..

1) If you bought a ZR one to be the fastest in a straight line, I feel sorry for you.
2) If you paid over $300,000 for a Ford GT to be the fastest car. I feel sorry for you.
3) If you never experience what a properly prepared car can do on a road course I feel sorry for you.
I was a quarter-mile junkie for 20 years before I discovered road racing. I wasted a lot of time sitting at the track waiting for “my turn” to go “drive” for 10 seconds. I intentionally use quotes around Drive as I’m sure everyone would agree mashing the gas is really not driving. There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than a 30 minute session on a road course driving the car at 9/10ths, especially VIR’s 17 turns and 3.3miles. I’m continually humbled by better drivers. Love watching cars and or drivers that punch way above their weight.
I find that most of these keyboard jockeys at a road racing event are much more humble and honest about their skills. Anyone can mash the gas, but making a car dance around a corner at the limit at over 100 miles an hour… Is pure joy! The camaraderie that I experience at track events goes across all makes all models and all skill levels. I find the Internet a terrible way define the same experience.
