Default C7/ZR1 performance air intake

So I went to my local Chevy dealer to order the Chevrolet performance air intake kit for my new ZR1 and the parts manager tells me that the part number is listed as a "no sell" or "sell hold" from Chevy parts. He told me that the part cannot be ordered at the current time as it is being modified by Chevrolet. Strange, has anyone heard of this? It is usually due to part availability or is the part truly being modified? Nevertheless, I just bought the GM part on line and saved $50. Thoughts?

In December I was told by my dealer that the local GM Parts Warehouse had the item in stock but they could not fill the order due the "sell hold". They said it was due to ZR1 orders that were yet to be built since the Performance intake is installed by the Dealer during PDI and there was/is a supply constraint from the Supplier. They actually found one in a Dealers Inventory and had it transferred so I could buy it from them.

Perhaps, possible difficulties of meeting Federal emission targets had GM rethink marketing it. Back in October of 2018 you could order the RVK option with the ZR1. It is no longer offered.

Thank you for the feedback. Exactly what I thought. The good news is that they are readily available online. Glad mine will be here tomorrow.

GM claimed 17HP increase on the LT5 crank and I have no reason to doubt it. I doubt, however that your SOTP could tell the difference.

I believe Weapon X Motorsports did some dyno comparisons. If I can find it and figure out how to get it on here I will. Or try searching it on the form. I ordered my ZR1 the 3rd of November and was able to get one with the car and have the dealer install it. It looks great under the hood. I haven't been able to drive mine yet because of the weather and it's driving me crazy.

I ordered it on mine, but was not able to get it. I ordered it from scog+dickey at a good price. They are not real easy to find right now.

They have it on sale now, but you won't have it shown on your Window Sticker. You have to install it yourself or pay someone to do it. Your warranty is also limited somewhat.

window sticker?? You can not get it on your car from factory anymore, so if you want it on your window sticker you wont get the car. I got the car, and ordered the air box. Putting on an airbox is simple. If you cant do it, you probably shouldn't be changing your oil either. Lol. Guess you can pay to have it done. Warranty cant be turned down either way, its not aftermarket, its gm.

I'm a little more familiar with this than you. Car 1623 shows it on the window sticker. You can no longer order it with the car...

Mine is #1657. Ordered in November including the intake. Built 1/26 and dealer installed the intake upon arrival.

which is why i said "anymore". 1623 was built when it was still available on car from plant.

You're correct. 1623 was ordered around October with RVK. GM accepted the order shortly thereafter. The performance intake went scarce sometime in November. GM built 1623 on 1/15/19 with RVK and the dealer installed it during PDI. It appears on the window sticker. To this date RVK is still not available from GM for reasons unknown. Some speculated that it is a supply issue. Some think it is an emission issue. Time will tell. Some people who ordered RVK with the car got a call that it is no longer available and got their car delivered without it.

This will be an interesting tidbit information when some Corvette historian will research it in 30 years!

I get mine at the NCM April 3. The NCM is installing it.
