Default ZR1 high trans temp at tracks

Have run my new ZR1 M7 at Daytona, VIR, and Sebring...all tracks where I ran my 2015 Z06 M7 and have found that the trans temp is about 50-60 dg F higher..around 300-310 dg. Has anybody else seen this?

Sorry, your run-on sentence is confusing. Which car runs hotter in the 300-310 F range?

Does the car go into limp mode? When during the session does it get to that temp? After 2 laps or near the end of a 20-minute session?

Default High temp

No limp mode. Have run 2300 track day miles with no issues. I am curious to hear what others have seen for new ZR1 trans temps at tracks

For those curious, hot warning on an A8 comes on when it sees 270F for more than 5 seconds. M7 has a higher temp threshold. Not sure a specific #.

I understood you just fine. Sorry to hear. Thought there were coolers for that.

What lubricant are you using in that transmission?

I think the ZR1 M7 might run a little hotter then the Z06 M7 due to higher TQ numbers.

Mine was the same way and would get over 300F on 30 minute runs. Fluid made no difference and I agree it's likely the higher torque. I believe 320F is the limit.

How was the car broken in? At what miles did you start tracking it? I didn't track mine yet (only 800 miles), but will keep an eye on this. I wonder what temps did Poor-sha has seen. He may chime in if he sees this.

Haha, just saw Poor-sha's post.

Out of my league here, (not a zr1 owner) but you can heat wrap the exhaust where it passes the trans. Old c5 trick, as they didn’t have factory coolers.

Default Heat Wrap

Good idea on heat wrap...was going to be my next step. I put 1800 miles of highway trip driving on car and changed all fluids before going to track. All said, it runs well and have had no real issues...8900 miles on it now

I know of one person who had issues at Pocono. He has extensive data.

Any more info? Which course at Pocono, ambient temps, 7-speed...? If you post his name he may chime in...

I don’t have access to my laptop where I’m at. Can anyone who did ZR1 owners school check their PDR data card to see what the trans temps were while they were running laps at Spring Mountain?

Just a heads up on wrapping the exhaust. A friend of mine did that on his C6 ZR1 and it caused too much heat and caught the flooring in the rear hatch area on fire. Took him almost a year to repair it. I've seen lots of people do that, but that was the first time I ever saw a result like that.
