You can pretty much bet your life on it.

There is probably 7 to 10 years of the C7. The regular C7 is out,.. the Z51 is out,.. the Z06 is out,.. and now the Z06 Conv. is out... That's a good bit of C7 products to offer in only 12 months... They always need to introduce new product ever year or two just to improve and offer new product to customers. That's just the way it happens. There's is a lot of life left in the C7 and they will offer new products t keep things selling.

They've already registered the "L88" and the "ZORA" trademarks. They did this for a reason. ...

Sort of like when they recently registered the new "Z/28" trademark a few years ago. It was lightly denied by some GM reps on a few internet forums that they were gonna offer the Camaro Z28... Then info. started to pop up on the internet about GM registering the "Z28" trademark. Also a couple photos of Camaro parts marked "Z28" popped up online. And still lightly denied... But what popped up later at the NY Auto Show???... Camaro "Z/28".

It was also noted that they got around a few questions by cleverly not using the "/" in online postings about the "Z/28" trademark... Many people kept calling the car a "Z28", but by not using the "/" in the questions they could deny the car was gonna be offered... What ended up being offered was the Camaro "Z/28" with the "/" in the name..."We have to tell little white lies... Or we could lose our jobs" -GM Rep.

There is just to much life left on the C7 for new models not to be offered. You can be sure they are always working on new stuff and new products will be coming down the road. No matter what the name is (L88, ZR1, or ZORA)... But, if they took the action to register the trademarks they more than likely have something in mind. Could end up being the Big Nasty's Big Daddy

Yep, something is coming.

Yet another thread about this? Seriously??? Car & Driver is the National Enquirer of the automotive magazine world and rumors about a mid-engine Vette have been circulating literally for decades.

Hmmm...

So i wonder if all C8s would be mid engine or just the "Zora"?

Hard to tell but you have to give Jalopnik some credit after they basically knew what the C7 would look like.

$150k is still a lot of money for a vette though.

That looks more like a Lotus Evora.

Has absolutely zero Corvette selling cues.

Not the most original design in the world but it looks good from that angle.

If all the C8s aren't mid engine and the ZR1 is a one off it would be hard for GM to keep the price under $110 K in today's dollars but seeing how Audi can sell and R8 V8 for about $115K I wouldn't doubt GM could do the same with a small number of common parts and keep the price around the same as an R8 V8 with much more power like the LT4. With inflation and so by the time the C8 Generation comes up it will probably more like a $135K+ car.

Exactly.

Folks.. Jalopnik based their claim on C & D's prediction. And we all know how much credibility C & D has when it comes to predicting future cars..

doesnt pass the smell test..

a 150,000 corvette? mid engine? so would you have a standard vett probably not mid engined and a zr1 mid-engined. built on the same production line? or hand build (or at least a more intensive manufacturing process than your standard vett).

i dont see how this can work. i could see something like a handbuilt cadillac version perhaps but i just dont see something like this rolling off the line at the current facility and at 150,000 its in a market outside of any previous corvette and could have the same consequences as the viper.

Yup. C&D is the National Enquirer of automotive magazines.

Rumors of a mid-engine Vette, and a Zora edition, have been circulated for decades. Ain't gonna happen.

It's real this time... the "plan" is exactly what was told to me by a trusted source back in early 2013. Basically base C7, hi-po model (Z06 hadn't been confirmed at that time), and then a couple years later something special which would point to the direction of the C8.

It's simple there's no ZR1 this generation. All the models of the C8 generation will be mid engine. And there will be mid engine Zr1 as a C8 not a C7.
