This car will go into production just like they said, 1. Reason is it was supposed to be the C7, but the economy stop that. 2. It will be built along with the C7, let’s see if it sells or not. I would like it. Pricey tho! Meaning it will not be in production long if it doesn't sell. 3rd. They need to stay ahead in the game. The C5 and C6 were in production to long and they and GN "milk the interest" out of the public. I think in will be unveiled at the auto shows by the end of 2017, and production by 2018.

Default my 2 cents worth

I do not foresee a mid-engine C8 for at least two years, and when it does occur the car will be significantly different than what we see (or think we will see) now.
I expect a small DOHC V-8, (under 4000cc) dry sump, twin turbo hybrid, that will be similar to the new NSX. I also expect it to be price well above current levels. Whether it is a limited line, or is also utilized by Cadillac also, the R&D, engineering and production costs will be high.
I think the frt engine, pushrod V-8 is nearing the end of it's development
potential and if GM can afford it they may make the mid-engine an offshoot sub-model for high end consumers.

I hope I'm wrong, but time will tell. In the meantime I will enjoy my C7, as I will be priced out of the market.

Everybody needs to remember that the mid engine car will be an additional model.

It will be a low volume 6 figure model.

The high volume 5 figure Corvette we know and love will continue to evolve.

That's why it's confusing to use the term "C8" right now.

I'll remember that. But I don't think it will ever happen.

But the magazines have said so. It must be true.

Of course they've said so for over 50 years.

Why would anyone believe them now?

I stopped reading car rags a few years ago. I got tired of reading about how great BMWs are.

My feeling is the C7 frame was already designed to accommodate a mid engine design because its a modular frame and not one piece like it was before. All they have to do is splice in a different rear section. I wouldn't doubt the whole plant when it was re tooled for the C7 was already tooled for the mid engine model. Im guessing this is also why we lost two colors mid year 2016 they have to make room for a second paint line to be able to paint the new body panels. This mid engine car is not new its been in the plans right from the start of C7.
