Default Tadge Juechter Denies Mid-Engine Corvette

I know....more C8 rumors. This time it's from Tadge though.

Looks like GM is definitely planning a mid-engine something, questions is, is it a Corvette? We always assumed so since it's Chevy's halo car, but that doesn't mean it has to be.

If GM/Chevy were working on a mid-engine Corvette, they would publically deny it until they are ready to reveal it. This proves nothing.

Yeah, but normally Tadge wouldn't deny it, but rather throw out the "no comment" or dance routine. My guess is that this could be something more in line with the Ford GT offering. Obviously just conjecture at this point.

We would be naive to think that it was not even under consideration by GM. They certainly have vision out more than 2 or 3 years. It may not be until the C8 or later, but it's gotta be on someone's drawing board at GM.

It's possible it's not for the Corvette, but rather a new model all together (more in line with the Ford GT). Looks like they are definitely planning a mid-engine something, questions is, is it a Corvette? We always assumed so since it's Chevy's halo car, but that doesn't mean it has to be.

Didn't he also deny that a new 8-speed automatic was coming, just 1 year before it was officially announced?

FYI- early in the 2014 C7 release Tadge was asked multiple times if there would be a Z06 C7. His answer was something like this "we have no plans for a Z06 in the C7 as this car (C7) is so advanced." Now we know for sure they knew long before the release of the 2014 C7 that the Z06 would happen in the 2015 model year. GM even had the performance build center built specifically for the Z06 motor.

I would not jeopardize a million dollar a year position by going against an information black out, ordered by my superiors, about a product yet to be release. He might not want to know about it, if it's not a Vette.
Just saying.

Hmmm...that's not the way I remember it. My recollection is that he said there were no plans for a C7 ZR1.

If they really build this, it'll be going up against real exotics at a whole different price point. Just as Ford didn't call the Ford GT some sort of super Mustang, I wouldn't be surprised for Chevy to give their supercar a whole new name.

Yeah, I know Ford had history with the GT-40, and Chevy doesn't have anything really similar, but I still think they'll want to position a $200,000+ car separately from the Corvette.

How about the Chaparral? Or maybe just the Zora, without a Corvette nameplate.

It would be a great Corvette, but would be a great Caddy too. I just want the "Spy" cameras to start getting shots of one testing - soon.
