Pretty much and it's sad. It's also why I offered the $500 bet for St Jude's; see if the "Editor" really has a scoop (he doesn't) or has any confidence in what he posted (he obviously doesn't). Just another click bait thread with no new info at all.
Edit: Just noticed that the "Editor" that started this thread joined the forum in Jan 2016. Yeah, a noob with the scoop.

Secondly, only authorized members can post on the main page, correct? https://www.corvetteforum.com/articl...hor/dwilliams/
So, who is the author? Dallas Williams is the name attributed to the article. And who is Dallas Williams? I really do not know, but a quick google.com search reveals that someone named Dallas Williams from Moreno Valley, CA, posted a review on Criswell Chevrolet on January 5, 2016. Here is Dallas William's review regarding his interaction with Mike Furman and Criswell Chevrolet throughout the process of purchasing a new Z06...
Hi there my name is Dallas Williams from southern california. I recently purchased a Daytona Orange Sunset Metallic Z06 from Criswell Chevrolet. I had the great opportunity to meet Mike Furman on the corvette forums. Knowing that so. california had a steep mark up on Z06's I contacted him about purchasing one at sticker price. Luckily I did and everything has gone very smoothly. Mike is great to work with and will tell you exactly what you need to know. This was a very pleasant experience! Dallas Williams

The Dallas Williams article really doesn't reveal any "new" information. It does, however, keep us stirred up about the possibility of a mid-engine supercar from GM. Here's one thing I know for certain...as Corvette Forum's C7 Events Correspondent, if GM does indeed announce a mid-engine supercar, I'll be there with up to the minute reporting for my friends here at Corvetteforum.com!

Hummmm ..... I for one thank the op of this thread for sharing that someone whom he feels is or should be in a.position to know something about a mid-engine car told him that it was going to happen! We should respect him not saying who or giving to many details were his info cam from. So far I am pleased to not see a dead horse icon! It is something to be excited about and is fun speculation as to what it might look like and how much it will cost. But those thoughts should not be.causing friction between corvette lovers. ..
Long as it dont look like a gt40 ....

1. Why would they junk up a C8 with C7 parts!
2. They have already talked about a 5.3 turbo car.
3. It will cost less then $100,000.
4. Tail lights will be round!

Whatever its called, however much it may cost, I do hope they offer an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version and build the engine like an old Supra or new GT-R; built to take on higher boost!!
Time GM stop the nickel and dime rope-a-dope BS and put all their eggs into one basket.
Make it happen, and charge the lowest price point possible without sacrificing profit to severely compete against Nissan GT-R, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Audi (R8) and the upcoming NSX and Ford GT.
Done!!

"The C8 ZR1 or “Zora” would be the second model in the Corvette model range. This will be the mid-engine car, which will ride on an all-new platform separate from that of the C7 Corvette. Motor Trend points out it is possible to do a front and mid-engine car on the same platform, but it would be difficult and “freakishly expensive.” The Zora Corvette will get the most powerful engines on offer, possibly with an output north of 750 horsepower. All-wheel drive is a possibility, but that brings us back to the topic of staying true to Corvette tradition. A hybrid drivetrain may also be on offer, an idea which seems very likely to happen given the recent trend towards hybrid super sports cars."
From the above excerpt from post #33 in the inserted thread, I'm not so sure about "freakishly expensive". It looks like the C7 AL frame could easily be modified in front and back keeping the center section basicly unchanged. Lots of posibilites there for...? I always wondered about that significant change in construction from the C5/C6 basic frame design. Other than the AL, a whole lot of complexity/welding to save a little weight IMO.

Mid-Engine is not C8
Mid-Engine is a 2019
Mid-Engine will more then likely have a Cadillac "twin"
Mid-Engine will use a Flat Plane Crank V8 (LT7) or a Twin Turbo V8 (LT6) or both (on Corvette one Cadillac)
Mid-Engine will only have a Dual Clutch type transmission
C8 will be a 2021
C8 will replace the existing C7 Stingray
Next Z06 could be on the C8 or the Mid-Engine platform
Mid-Engine might be called ZR1
Mid-Engine is unique platform with "C7" components (most C7 components are technically GM Global A electronics and are shared across the entire line).
C8 will probably be Global B which is GM's next generation electrical Architecture.
C7 will have an MCA in 2018.
Anything else?
(All these things are items I hear thru back door channels, people I know at suppliers, at GM, or from friends of friends who work for those two). In this industry very little remains secret (like the Ford GT did), unless you go "off grid" and do everything manually in a basement.

Drifting
This came up at the track event last weekend. Talking with the owner of a local Chevy dealership he thinks it will happen from what he has heard and that GM will let it be know in 2017 at the Detroit show.
I have had a refundable $500 deposit on one since the rumors started happening about a year and a half ago. If it happens and is not in the Lamborghini price I would go ahead with it, but $400K is a lot of money. Under $200k would be realistic for me, but it all depends on how many they make and how much they spend on the car with R&D. I am pretty sure GM would sell every one of them quickly.
For all of those who keep saying that Chevy is going to ruin the Corvette by making it a mid-engine car and if this car actually happens, you can bet that this car would not be "replacing" anything. Don't expect the current corvette to change, so relax.
