For the 1st 2 years of this car coming out as a mid engine for 160,k to 220,k I will be for sure driving something else for this kind of money.
Now after all the bugs has been worked out of it small v8 with TT and 750 rwhp would look at it for the smaller price range to 175,k..

Of all the mid-engine concept art I have seen this one is my favorite! Tadge, if you are listening, I vote for this one!!!!
(Besides, I like the color scheme used. )
Forget about building a mid-engine Corvette to compete with the Ford GT, how about competing with Porsche and Ferrari?

The problem with Patel's argument is that a mid-engine Corvette won't do much of anything to help " Corvette ... finally garner the respect it deserves in the world of supercars."
It will still be a Chevy, and the Euro snob crowd [who hate chrome wheels, according to some of our forum members] will still see it as a Chevy. And to the extent any mid-engine Corvette is accepted as a real supercar, it won't affect how people feel about the front-engined Corvette. The Ford GT doesn't make the Mustang any more of a supercar, and the Ferrari tie-in doesn't make a Fiat a performance car. Finally, it isn't the engine location that makes a supercar, unless you don't consider the F12 a supercar.
Which will make the removable top panel a..... ZZ TOP!!

Second, I buy a LOT of cars. Cars have to look good first and foremost. If Chevrolet wants another sale out of me, it will have to be something different. If we can design P51 Mustangs and XR750s, as a nation, we can certainly design a good looking automobile as well as any German or Italian.
Third, Orange Peel... Back in the mid '90's I saw a 'brand new' Ferrari F50 once and OMG! The orange peel was incredible. I couldn't believe it. I thought it had been wrecked and was very embarrassed when I said something about the paint. Nothing a serious wet sanding didn't clear up, but what a disappointment that must have been for the owner to see...
And I gave you a Thanks for taking flak from the one car a decade haters.

Too exotic for my taste - hope Chevy keeps the price as a competitive advantage vs the snob mobiles and stays with a classy corvette look vs a me too which they will not be able to compete with from the perspective of the people who buy those vehicles

Mid-Engine Corvette
I would rather keep the front engine Corvette instead of trying to change the legend of Corvette. American made not following foreign cars. It's a fantastic sports car. I don't even like the pictures of what it might look like. Sort of like a lousy Porche.

Many years ago I thought a mid engine GM car similar to a lola T70 would be really cool. Since pretty much all american cars were nose heavy. With the development of the C5 and later models front engine and a rear transaxle lay out it's not so important. With the money GM spends to a ultra low production mid engine car they could "get the plastic out" of the interior. From the drawing it would have a transverse V8 something like reminding me of "Northstar Fiero"
