Don't think so! Ummm let's see....
1. The average income of a Corvette owner is higher than of a Cadillac owner and has many, many owners that are very affluent that can afford to buy anything they want and they often do with having multiple cars (toys).
2. The Corvette is one of the very few cars GM has that has actual credibility Worldwide and pretty much respected as an elite brand Worldwide (except for the haters).
3. No Cadillac has close to the cachet the Corvette has.
4. No Cadillac has the fanatical enthusiast following the Corvette has.
5. No Cadillac has the heritage the Corvette has.
6. No Cadillac has the racing history the Corvette has.
7. The same exact $150-200K car but under the Cadillac name would be outsold 3-4 times under the Corvette name. The same car at $70-110K would be outsold by 10 under the Corvette name.
News flash to those who might be confused that we are in the 1960's or early 1970's or live in certain regions of this great Country..........There's nothing it has on the Corvette with the exception of some superior dealerships! Cadillac is coming up but not there yet. They need to work on a legit Flagship Sedan and keep focus on their SUV lineup for now. After that they can perhaps piggy-back on the Corvette platform and do their own variant IMO.

Melting Slicks
If you'd like me to elaborate.... a friend I trust told me the following back when the C7 Stingray came out:
"They're working on a Z06 and then a special car is coming to showcase what GM can do which will pave the way for the C8". Back then the GS wasn't in the cards nor was a possible C7 ZR1, but the C7 has been very profitable for GM.

We posted at the same time so my post clearly wasn't directed at you. My Father worked for GM from 1965 to 2001. I have lots of stories I could share.......

BTW, I saw a conversion kit for the C7 to convert it to round tail lights. In my opinion, it looked nasty, I won't be buying one.

Safety Car
What is the price point and will it have a manual?
I won't be buying the first model year. I will gladly avoid the teething issues, and the higher performance model that will challenge the Z will take at least another year to build.

Clearly shares the C7 a pillar and mirrors.... Very unlikely this is solely a Cadillac.... Possible eventual crossover but no way they release the Cadillac variant 1st or even at the same time.... GM most certainly learned a lesson from the XLR.... No one argues that it was an awesome car but that didn't help sell them for GM! Maybe they will at least put a variant of the vettes engine in it if it does carry over rather than a "Northstar".... Cadillac has definitely upped their game since the XLR days though with all the new V series cars so I wouldn't mind seeing a Cadillac varient eventually

Most chatter I'm hearing is that GM is building this as a halo car and their luxury brand is Caddy. It will pave the way for a mid-engine Corvette C8.
That said, I agree that the Corvette has all the racing heritage and prestige. Plus people have been clamoring for a mid-engine Corvette for decades and it's never happened. So a mid-engine Corvette will have way more buzz.
But... sources keep saying Caddy halo car. Apparently Caddy is getting back into prototype racing with a carbon tub closed cockpit car.

do you think it this is separate corvette model or a separate car altogether from the Corvette?
#51
It's a StingRay, just look at the way the rear window tapers down toward the back like the C7.
#52
Pretty sure this is just a bastardized test mule. The older variant had a C7 cabin and doors, but a Holden front and rear truck bed. I think this is just more C7 exterior scrap bits.

I believe it will be a separate model under the Corvette brand. There have been spy shots of the ZR1 and a Z06X. I don't think it would be a bad idea to have a Zora on top of those. Porsche does very well with their multiple versions of the 911. Why can't Corvette do the same? I would still like to see the lower models remain affordable, front engine platforms of course. Just please continue to offer me a manual!

GM-----Chevrolet-----Corvette-----(Cx) (in this case C8)-----?
The Stingray, GS and Z06 aren't "brands", they are sub models of the Corvette. When someone asks you "what brand of jeans are those?" you say Levis, you don't say 501's. If someone asks me what brand of phone I own I don't say Note 5, I say Samsung.

Let's talk power plant, what do you guys think will be suitable for this?
N/A V8
FI V8
TT 6
As for trans, I don't think it will have a DCT since GM be boasting about their A8/A10 shifting like no tomorrow.

try wedging a 6.2L OHV V8 and all necessary accessories into a mid-engine chassis and then work on it, that may be a challenge.

So if its a C8 in 2019, do we get to call our C7s MidYear 2s???
Its a Vette BTW.
