ZR1 and Mid Engine Testing Together - New Pics

While I was watching IMSA this weekend, it occurred to me that maybe the ME car really will be a Caddy. Given that WTR transitioned to Cadillac with GM's support, it at least makes more sense. As a Cadillac owner ('16 Escalade) I do like the product, and if the ME car does turn out to be a Caddy, I'll definitely buy one. However, I would still prefer it to be a Corvette.
As an aside, I know we can argue BoP all day long, but I can't help but wonder how successful Corvette's GTLM program will be against the ME competitors. Getting beat by a 1-car private Ferrari team with limited factory support certainly has to be a reason for pause. One race does not make a season, but I don't see how at least Ford and Porsche ME configurations won't be exceptionally difficult to beat. And yes, I know that Porsche is really more ME-ish...

Looking forward to the ME.
I hope they shave some of the front/rear overhang.

Predictions:
1) The ME Corvette will finally become a reality - photos don't lie.
2) But it will be badged as a Cadilac - too expensive of a design to sell with a Bowtie.
3) The C7 will continue along with the new ME for now - gotta have something to sell the long time followers.
4) Unfortunately it will not have room for golf clubs - guess they don't want my money!

WTF, who cares about a Cadillac sports car?
I don't get that particular marketing approach at all.

It's all about Cadillac trying to elevate their prestige around the world to Mercedes's level. Mercedes has a bunch of different "sports cars" in their portfolio, and Cadillac is a copy cat.
Cadillac has tried it before and failed and they will fail again. No one gives a crap what Cadillac has to offer. That's why they are at the bottom of "luxury car" sales in the USA.

It's not about Cadillac actually having a "sports car".

To the other poster I'm guessing Lincoln, Acura, Buick, Volvo, and other "near luxury" brands don't count.

^^^Outside of the camo on the cars, GM is past the point of trying to hide these rigs.

Yeah, I don't think that will work, Mercedes' racing heritage stretches back 60+ years, and it's a Euro brand. Racing and Cadillac are not sympatico and a couple of IMSA race wins/cups won't change that in the public mind. You may have a few Corvette customers paying attention to that stuff but Caddy buyers? Um....no.
In fact if I were to go by country (with extras thrown in) I'd say
Mercedes, Lexus, Genesis, Buick, and Lincoln (less so until late) Luxury is key.
BMW, Infiniti, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, and Cadillac (especially of late) Performance is key.
Audi, Acura, Porsche, Volvo, and Chrysler (although not lately this one is a stretch) Technology is key.
The American brands obviously conform the least, but the Japanese and Germans have aped each other pretty well.
Maserati is in a higher class with Aston, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lambo, et al.

Looks a little too advanced to be just a body mule.
Either way, with the upcoming ZR1, C8, and ME, no question there are some great cars coming our way in the next few years.

GM's winter testing grounds is in Kapuskasing, Ontario, 560 miles north of Toronto -- where they truly wish for -40 F to doing their winter testing (HVAC, powertrain, and more). If latter confirmed there pictures were taken there, as to leaving them out in the open, clearly someone mistakenly thought no sane person would travel that far north in the winter to get a picture.
