ZR1 and Mid Engine Testing Together - New Pics
#41
The person I know who worked on the next Corvette would not mention mid-engine. He/She just said it's coming quicker than most expected (within 2 years), would be much faster, and more expensive.
Between the expanded factory, and the shutdowns I wonder if what we are seeing is the C7/Z06/GS being reskinned, similar to what Ford does with the Mustang, and a more expensive mid-engine being added to the lineup.

GM's winter testing grounds is in Kapuskasing, Ontario, 560 miles north of Toronto -- where they truly wish for -40 F to doing their winter testing (HVAC, powertrain, and more). If latter confirmed there pictures were taken there, as to leaving them out in the open, clearly someone mistakenly thought no sane person would travel that far north in the winter to get a picture.

Slowly but surely the world will realize again that American cars are just better than the the rest. It takes time. When the big three got complacent in the 70's 80's they have learned a valuable lesson and eventually will be on top again.

Predictions:
1) The ME Corvette will finally become a reality - photos don't lie.
2) But it will be badged as a Cadilac - too expensive of a design to sell with a Bowtie.
3) The C7 will continue along with the new ME for now - gotta have something to sell the long time followers.
4) Unfortunately it will not have room for golf clubs - guess they don't want my money!

GM, please note that just because one likes the Corvette that does NOT mean they like any other car within your brand or in fact any other Domestic car!!
Although, I really like the direction they are going, I could care less about a Cadillac!! Good luck selling a ME Cadillac....it will be DOA after a few months!! The Corvette Brand can carry a much higher priced Exotic Car much better than Cadillac can! Heck, they have sold like over 20K units of $80-125K C7 Z06's in a two year production run. Let Cadillac concentrate on building a true Halo Sedan that rivals a Mercedes S Class and expand your only Halo cars (Corvette) portfolio further!
If they build a ME Exotic and sell it under the Cadillac then I am out and in fact it will leave a bad taste in my mouth for any further Corvette purchases!

The fact that many of you wouldn't buy the car if it was a Cadillac versus if that same car was as a Corvette says more about you and less about the car.
The car should be judged on its merit, not automatically hated or lauded based on the badge.
But I know, some of you have images to keep up, can't be seen in a domestic luxury car that's too vulgar. Only pickups and Corvette are acceptable to you.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of a lot of GM cars, but I don't dislike any of them because of brand. I dislike them because of the car. So if you wouldn't buy the ME car because it has a Cadillac badge, it's your loss, and you're foolish too.
It's the same people who trash the Ford GT because it has a Ford badge on it, then proceed to get in some god awful looking Mercedes SUV that they bought cause it's what the neighbors expect you to drive. Barf...

And FYI, if Ford had produced the GT under the Lincoln name then it would not be nearly as desirable!

there is no way they're going to discontinue the current Corvette platform layout, the mid engine will be a separate model and the front engine, rear drive will continue to soldier on.

Ford could call it an Edsel and people will still buy it.
There's no Ford v. Cadillac rivalry, it's Ford v. Chevy, always has been so if anyone doesn't think that GM will name their flagship sports car that will undoubtedly go against the Ford GT a Chevy.....well, I got a bridge I'd like to sell you.
Chevy sells sports cars, Cadillac sells luxury cars that are sporty, simple.
