Default Just joined the Forum, I can't wait for the mid-engine Corvette!!!!

Just joined the forum! I've been eyeing a Corvette for years! I've stayed away, until now! Performance isn't just a throttle down straight line! An affordable, American made, Mid-engine, hopefully for a little more than what a current Corvette cost! Starting at 80k or under! I can't wait!!! It's about TIME!!!! Previously the only affordable option was a underpowered, cheap feeling Lotus. I don't understand why so many forum members, don't want this, or want to, keep it the front? It's about Time!!!!

It is not the engine position that bothers me, I want a convertible and a manual transmission. Afraid the manual will not be offered, as for the convertible, mid-engine could be a problem. In any event my new M7 Stingray convertible should bridge the gap durring the changeover. We will see.

I'm sure it will come with paddle shifters. It's not exactly the same, there's a little lag, but a very good compromise, for a mid engine!

^^^ I strongly disagree! I have driven paddle shifter automatics; "Boring". It is not and never be the same, not even close. Compromise, ha!

^^^ I like everything that you have. But I highly doubt there's going to be a V10, I think there's a better chance of a V8 DOHC TT and as much as I would love a 70K starting point that's very unlikely. I would be pleased if the starting point was 110k.

^^^ I agree, I'm hoping 125k-135k. That's why I said I'd be pleased if it started at 110k, I guess thrilled would've been better.

Yes, that's what I hope too. No more than 5k over current pricing! When Corvette does do this, they will be unstoppable!!!!

If you can't wait then what are you going to do? I figured that we would be forced to wait but apparently you are not?!

Corvette guys have been waiting 55+ years since the C2-gen for the mid engine 'Vette to arrive.

Welcome to the back of the line.

This is what Tadge said about mid engine Corvette...."Mid-engine requires a lot of compromises. You look at the elite race programs around the world; they’re all mid-engine. So... if all you care [about] is purely performance, then it makes sense to put the engine in the back. If you’re still talking about a car that can be used as a daily driver, long-distance tourer as well, handle benignly on the track, and have accessible performance, there’s a whole lot of other things that come into what is the optimum."

My source says $130K-$180K for the mid-engine. High cost model that will run along side the front engine layout. The Mid-engine will not be cheap or the affordable model. It will cost well about the C7 ZR1 coming out.

It's a Ford GT fighter not a base stingray.

I would hope there is a reasonably priced rear mid engine corvette...

I'd imagine since Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche both 911 and booster are offered as convertibles GM can manage the same if not a more unique solution.

If not and there are two models of corvette. One front mid engine and one rear mid engine that will be exciting as well.

We as enthusiasts will win either way.

As far as manual transmissions ? If the automatic is faster than I'll order that. If the manual is faster that will be my next corvette transmission.

After watching how valuable porsches manual transmission models have become I would be surprised if GM did away with manual transmissions.

It's an excellent way to differentiate their product offering for greater consumer demand.

I wouldn't worry. There are always suppliers ready to offer GM reasonable choices.
