you guys need to look at ''mercury engines'',they have had a DOHC head conversion for ls7 engines for 3-4 years,[but only will sell complete engs now],its been at SEMA and is running/driving in cars right now,
now look at the hood on the winged protypes, looks good to clear that,,and to bring out a killer N/A eng for a zr1 type car would be great

I heard it on the phone too when I was talking to him. To my ears it definitely sounds like a small block, that is OHV design. I don't think it's the DOHC block like the magazines make it out to be. Would GM go out of their way to make a DOHC engine sound like their OHV? I don't think so.

Why not use the new body parts for both the 2018 Z06 and the ZR1? Plenty more cooling for a bigger blower on the Z06's LT4, plenty of room for the ZR1's dohc LT5. Compare the all-purpose blown Z06 to the Porsche Turbo and the N/A ZR1 to the GT3 track model.

Why have a ZR1!?
As far as I know a ZR1 is just a rumor. A ZR1 doesn't make sense without an engine swap. I think turbos in the valley would be the best, but, a lot of work.
A corresponding to the top Camaro model line up would just be awesome. But the market in the Vette's price range is probably problematic, hence, the Z06 program limitations thus far.

Pure speculation on my part; I think this power adder is reason for the bulge in the hoodline of the Corvette speculated as the next ZR1. Reading the specifications it is more efficient and of note also increases top end without hurting low-mid power range. Sounds like a good match for the big wing C7 and the current LT architecture. The 170* rotors are new compared to 160* used previously.

Sure, a kind of anti-EPA solution. Trump/souped-up! ;)

The taller hood bulge is to accomodate much larger intercooler bricks. Insufficient intercooling is the main weakness of the Z06. Along with with excessive drag from the spoiler. Both addressed on the ZR1.
