We Have New Mid-Engine Corvette Renders

Definitely the best render I've seen so far. Love the demon looking tail lights, vents and everything else about the overall design except for two things, the split exhaust tips and the c7 half and half rear fascia/diffuser. The c7 is a stunning car from every angle (ignoring the rear fascia/diffuser that is) and this car will be as well. If the tail lights had a swoop going downward that followed along the vent, making a sideways "Y" shape, they would carry the design cue of the front grill to the rear of the car and make it look even better IMO.
...must...center...exhaust...tips...

If the 458, Aventador, Murcielago and so on can have a centered exhaust, this car can too.
Me to GM:
You will center the exhaust pipes and erase all concepts of a split exhaust.
GM: .........No
My jedi mind tricks don't seem to be working right now.

The latest spy shots have given us a pretty good idea of the general proportions and shape of the upcoming mid-engine Corvette, so we asked our render artist to start waving his magic pen to create the images you see here.

I know GM has been working on this ME platform for at least two years; that's when the first mule was spotted, so looking at this render it seems like they are playing catch up design wise....which I know this is only an artists rendition.
Specifically, I find it interesting that at the recent Geneva Auto Show, the new 720S was intro'd and it had zero side quarter inlet ducts/scoops/blades, which had become so prominent on previous Maclarens, Audi R8 etc, and instead the body does the work for induction and aero. So if GM goes this route with a side induction "scoop" instead of a purpose built body, it'll seem dated the moment it hits show room floors in my opinion. Though I suppose it won't be too bad, because if the render has any weight (front bumper design, which is similar to the upcoming ZR1 and especially that rear fascia), it's certainly in the C7 family. That just means come the C8, a more up to date or radical design could be explored after several years of legitimate feedback/reception from consumers.
Overall I feel it's a step in the right direction, and if Chevy can perform as good if not better than cars twice it's price using the front ME layout, I can only imagine the performance (be it somewhat bland/seen it before extior) that will come with this all new platform.

Forgot to mention I am in with what some suggested...
First time I see a next GEN tested with a PRE GEN ZR1...
I think Corvette is readying for a treat... a portfolio expansion ala Porsche 911 AND BOXER/CAYMAN at the same time..
This means that what we may be looking at is a "at PAR" offering with starting price in the 60/70s... and IF that is the case that rendering is BEUTIFULL!
My 2c

Reminds me of the Toyota MR2, little larger version. I really think the mid engine is being built for the global economy, certainly not for a U.S. car for the North American market. Looks to European or Asian, rather then the AMERICAN Corvette. Not saying I don't like it, just this this will be the death blow to the Corvette of the past 50 plus years.... Guess this is the way of the automotive business. Think I will hold on to my C7 for quite a long time.... I am sure the C8 midengine is a wonderful car, cutting edge technology, and handles on a dime, and has more then enough HP, but you are losing the vision of the American Corvette. Making a car that looks like a Nissan, Accura, Toyota MR2, or Porsche, to me loses the value of the American Sportscar. This is my humble opinion, I am sure it will grow on me, but hard to say based on renderings.

That's why I said this design will look somewhat dated once it hits the showroom floors. Given the new McLaren 720S doesn't have side intakes, I feel the rest of these supercars will follow suit and opt for a design that directs air where it needs.

I doubt Chevy is looking to target that far up the market so they should be OK.

Get rid of those dated tacky tips how many do ya need?
Two larger rectangular tips that blend into the bodywork would look so much classier.

I want the 500 hp dct version of the OP sketch. I love that car although I hope it comes with a targa roof of some sort.
I love driving with the roof off..
Sexy vehicle for sure.

No Camaro tail lights and a proper sized front fender without cheap childish mud flaps is a great start.
GM has there work cut out, besting the pure sex looks of the Ford GT is going to be a tough task.
