Driving the 2 back-to-back is a great way to compare and contrast.
For me, and it is just a personal opinion, the ME has more of a man/machine/road tactile experience.
Of course, YMMV.
It's been over 13 years since I've driven ME and the cars back then were vastly different especially of ME variants of the last 3 years so I have no basis of comparison. Your contention of "ME has more of a man/machine/road tactile experience" is consistent with improved performance" IMO. The performance gains of 2017 Huracan Performante and the new McLaren (cannot recall name) are especially noteworthy as evident by recent Nurburgring lap times that looked almost 'casual' from in car view.

Surprisingly the corvette c7 z06 at car and drivers lightning lap this past year faster than the Audi R8 v10 plus and the mclaren 570s...and quite a few others...or maybe it was the grand sport with 460 hp lapped as quickly as the mclaren 570 mid rear engine vehicle with quite a bit more hp...

Performance wise....I'm not sure rear mid engine is always better but I'm sure it's a lot of fun

"Fun" is, of course, subjective.

FWIW, with most of the weight behind the driver, the front end becomes lighter...making Turn-in kinda go-cartish.
Again, IMO.

Are mid engine cars running close to 50/50 balance? With too little weight on the front wouldn't it push unless you have enough speed to achieve adequate down force?

The front engine C7 Z06 has a 51/49 weight distribution.

The front engine Mercedes AMG GT R has a 47/53 weight distribution and it appears that the Mercedes gets around the turns better than the Z06.

Ferrari 488 GTB = 41.5% front, 58.5% rear
McLaren 570S = 42% front, 58% rear

Keeping both front engine and a mid engine Vette would be good... It gives more choices / options to the buyer. Offers multiple versions of the car everybody likes... Ferrari makes both, and it works well for them... I'd be happy if Chevy made both. The more Vettes the better.
