Honestly, I don't understand why we're screwing around with "this guy says this", "my dog says that", "this guy knows a dog that knows a dog..." etc.

Why not make it an "ASK TADGE" question? I'm sure he's dying to tell us!!!

Done, problem solved.

You're welcome.

Jimmy

I was just going to say the same thing about the leak from a Caddy exc awhile back... Doesn't surprise me, Caddy has really been pushing the brand hard in racing lately.

Don't know Buick....when they go muscle, they go real muscle. Buick has a legacy of producing very high performance cars, when they do.

When the c6 redesign came in 2005 I believe most of the changes were funded by the Cadillac division...

I wonder if Cadillac division is funding the massive bowling green manufacturing plant investment?

That would be quite telling and we as corvette enthusiasts might just get to keep our reasonably priced supercar in the c8 as a rear mid engine design to boot..

Besides the security dog said so...

We will know either way soon enough...

Always fun anticipating future GM performance vehicles as they tend to surpass the German and Italian in many performance areas..

I seriously doubt one division would fund another division directly. All GM divisions consolidate up to GM Corp and GM Corp decides what gets funded and what does not. That's why the various divisions were set up....to keep the business separate otherwise it would be impossible to analyze which business units are profitable.

I doubt it.
Although it is likely the Caddy ME will be built there, it seems to me the Chevrolet brand would have more $$$ to invest than Cadillac.

Notwithstanding all the guffaws and crap posted in response to the OP, every day we are picking up this information from different varied sources.

Actually I would be most happy to take my car in to a Cadillac dealer rather than a (normally) Crappy Chevy dealer. I would not be excited about a Northstar engine or a posh ride, but given the latest V cars, I guess that the car would be as good or better than Chevy could build it.

I hope this isn't going to be FWD.

1. Corvette isn't a brand, it's a model, whether a base or ZR-1. The trim level of any Corvette, from low to high, doesn't change that it's a Chevrolet Corvette.

2. I know a couple vette driving folks who also have exotics...... but it's very safe to say that they are not the majority. There are exceptions to every rule but the reality is many (if not most) folks driving a vette do not have the finances to be spending $150K+ on a play vehicle. I can't imagine what GM will ask for it's new mid-engine "exotic" but I can guarantee it's north of the 150K mark.

I don't know a guy, but I do hope that anything from GM that comes out being mid-engined is a Cadillac or ANYTHING other than a Corvette. Labeling a blatantly different vehicle a different trim or "special Corvette" seems asinine and has a track record of not working. Granted it's going the other way with it, but using names of cars enthusiasts loved on cars completely different from their namesakes didn't work for cars like Monte Carlo, Regal, Dart, Cougar, Thunderbird, Impala, Malibu, Blazer, Charger, etc.

I'll admit I like reading about it, but I can't wait until this whole subject is put to bed.... GM wants their own Ford GT. I think they'll put one out eventually (in some branded form), it will rock the world performance-wise just like Corvette does, but it won't be as successful (at the dealers, or as an increasing-value collector's item) as the "tribute-car" Ford created to pay homage to their history making GT40. That's my stab at fortune telling anyways.

Nope, I won't bash because they're old....

I'll bash (not really) because neither article is FACT, both are some guys doing the exact same thing that everyone on this thread is doing....GUESSING

The "Carbuzz" guy is especially funny, with the guy asking "who would pay $100,000 for a Chevy?" Clearly he hasn't looked a C7 Z06, where it is EASY to get the car to $100K and beyond.

But both articles are consistent....both show the Cien show car from 15 YEARS AGO as some sort of proof. If "show cars" were proof, we would have had a mid-engine Corvette 4 DECADES ago.

PS. A lot of these guys love to point to the current head of Cadillac (formally of Audi) and say "He's the guy that made the R8 so it's obvious he'll do it again". What they always forget is that R8 was, relatively speaking, pretty cheap to do as it shared platform with the already existing Lamborghini Gallardo. Again, I think we WILL see a ME Caddy, but I think we'll see it first as a ME Corvette. Cadillac has got bigger problems and fish to fry than to try and market a ME sports car. They need to get the cars they have NOW to sell, and a ME sports car is of very questionable value in that pursuit.

I'm not being a "hater" at all, just stating MY opinion of the relative worth of a ME Caddy verses a ME Corvette. We'll find out soon enough and, as I've stated numerous times, one of us will be right.

I don't think so, it certainly would be a big waste, and certainly not in the spirit of the original Grand National. But you know the General....all will have to wait and see...

Seeing as how they have eliminated the corvette branded prototypes in favor of the new Cadillac powered prototype in the imsa series, and this is a documented R&D testing series for future street use technology. A mid-engine Cadillac would make more sense.

But and it might be far fetched, but AWD is going to pop up somewhere sometime. Just a thought.
