C8 concept-What do you think?

Ahh, ok. That term is too pretentious for me. I don't know much about calligraphy. You sound like a magazine editor. Are you? Is that why you are so offended at the cut and paste comment? Just defending yourself? Don't be offended. None was meant.
That front end tho. Seriously now. If someone at GM styled that, I believe they are trying to sabotage the Corvette.
Laptop > HDMI cable > TV. Much bigger picture.
I would call it a design. It's not a mechanical CAD drawing but it's more than a sketch or a conceptual idea.
Don't judge my design ability based on this though. This is nothing compared to others I have done. Although it is good based on today's production car standards. But I'm not going to put anything really advanced online. I'm intentionally holding back.
Good one at the bottom of page two. That's better than most cut and paste jobs. And I like it because it shows that this design is better than all the other cars you put there. That might be the way you guys design cars or make renderings, but that's not how I did mine. I didn't do it by looking at any other car pictures. Look at the steps I went through on page one of the thread. Just free hand without looking at anything else. Sculpting more than drawing. The doors would be able to open easily. You sound like an engineer that's not very good. The cockpit is at least the size of a current Corvette, the wheels are bigger, that might be fooling you. The next step would be to build a full size scale model. No cad. No computers or engineers to mess up the design. If engineers ever have problems, they should talk to the designers. The designers know how it works. Don't just use that as an excuse to make something that is easier to make but doesn't look as good. Re-read everything I said. You're misunderstanding most things.

Get yourself a few hundred pounds of plasticine and ridged foam and start sculpting. Shouldn't take too long....... After that you can make some molds and form some fiberglass panels so you can refine the design.
Keep us posted on your progress! Looking forward to seeing it come to life.

I wouldn't build this car as a one off by myself. But if GM wanted me to sculpt it, I would. I have some other designs that I might do myself. Those are in a totally different league and would be worth just building one car. This car was designed to be good in terms of todays standards. And it's pretty damn good if I say so myself. It will probably be better than all but a few cars for 30 years to come based on the pace of the auto industry. [This was an exaggeration. Just taking a jab at the auto industry.] It is an absolutely gorgeous car, but compared to all of my other designs, it is simple and dated. I'm working on designs that won't be seen for 50 or 100 years unless I make them. This design is intended, like I said, to push Chevrolet to build something great. So they don't make the mistakes of the past. To make the mid-engine Corvette at least as good as this, if not use this design.
So based on all your responses, which now we know that you weren't being truthful, you actually can see the design. You probably work for an automobile print or online magazine or Forum. Possibly an employee at GM. Something like that. You're purpose was to denigrate my design. Maybe because you believe Chevrolet won't build anything as good as this design. I don't know where your motivation comes from. Why do you want my design to be 3D? Your pictures posted other places aren't 3D CAD drawings. You're just trying to insult for no purpose? I've said all along mine was a concept sketch.

You should try and be a little more positive and self confident. You modesty does you no justice.
I have no doubt that in 50 to 100 years we will see the designs you are so proud of in - lands Far Far Away. In Wonderland and Neverland. In Fantastica, Avalon, Frell, Valhalla, Camelot, Atlantis and Shangri La. In the land of Oz and Lillyput too.
Never give up. Never give in. Be proud.

You wouldn't be embarrassed if you saw all of my designs. This one was created based on todays standards. I have others that are 50 or 100 years advanced. If you saw those you'd be saying to everyone to give me a break.
Edited. Added later: [I hope that's not true, firstvettesoon, about you working for GM and stealing. But that's not what I said anyway. Again, you are making stuff up and saying I said it. But you guy's are obviously not average Joes just shooting the breeze on a website. Why don't you just talk to me in person like a civilized normal person if you work for GM? You be nice. You're telling me to be nice? I have been.]
-I have to go back to real life now. Do some laundry and pay some bills. See you guys later. Enjoy my design. Share it online if you want. The more people that see it the better. People will start expecting more from auto manufacturers.

Excessive heat and high altitude sickness. Lack of O2 and temperatures over 100 deg. for extended periods can cause this type of dementia...
Fluids, rest...

Ahhh, but notice nobody has criticized my design. They have just criticized that the picture is dark. Thank you all. You guys are fighting the wrong person. You should be fighting GM. Demand greatness from them.

I think we all want and hope for greatness from the new Corvette.

I'm on your side. I want you guys to have a nice car. So I can watch them drive by as I delusionally [as CFHay said] roam the streets.

My intent was not to criticize designers. You misunderstood me. I don't think they would be offended. Designers would applaud what I've said. They are capable of producing much better than what reaches the market.
I was criticizing the decision makers as to what is actually produced. Maybe they think they need to leave room for improvement so people will buy the next years model. But I hate that, producing something not as good as they are capable of.
But you auto makers, don't worry. We are not even close to having nowhere to improve upon. Designers will keep improving. Someone said that the McLaren has reached the ultimate mid-engine design. Not even close.

OP, your renders are WAY TOO DARK!
Just like your opinion of yourself is WAY TOO HIGH!
That you're unable to grasp either concept doesn't bode well for you.

Edited: [Please don't mistake honesty for ego. How do I say I have the most advanced designs without sounding egotistical? I'm not talking about anything I put on here. I don't want to put them online. And I never said I was the best illustrator. Todays standards are very high. But I have created designs that are way more advanced than anything else. And I want to make them come to life.]
But I don't think being proud is bad. It's a positive thing. Some people view it as a negative thing. I don't. It's very positive.
It's very time consuming and tedious work to separate the car from the background to make more of a contrast between the two colors. If I could quickly and easily make it easier for some people to see, I would. It would actually just make it look worse any way though. Respectfully, sorry, Demon on Wheels, I don't have the time to do it. But I can see it clearly. My friends can see it. I think some people are making more out of it than it is.
I'm not trying to offend anybody. I'm talking directly to GM. Don't kid yourself, they read every word on here and look at every picture.
I see disappointments coming in the spy photos. I see a huge gap in the front wheel well between the tire and the fender. Hopefully they will use a bigger wheel. The wheels do look small.
I see part of a B pillar that reminds me of the '84 Corvette. I don't believe that was one of it's best features. It took 30 years for the Corvette to improve in that area. Do you have to bring it back?
The rocker panel looks very dated. 'Straight' out of the 80's.
I can't bring myself to believe that these spy photos are of a serious proposal for the C8 or a more limited number of a Zora mid-engine. You can't just take a C7 and move the cab to a more forward position and put on a wide body kit and lower trim styled from the 80's. That's just not good enough. If they are having trouble keeping development costs down, maybe they need to rethink how they are doing it.
I see round exhaust tips positioned in the standard area. That looks very dated. Especially on what should be a fresh entry into the mid-engine market. Is that a muffler that I see? I don't want to see that.
I see two different versions of a simple 7 spoke wheel painted black. I know some people like black wheels. Enjoy them on your own car. But a lot of other people don't like them. I think it's about time we got out of the black wheel fad. To me, it looks like the car had a flat tire and the spare is being used. If cars are to look new and fresh, you have to change the design. I remember seeing Magnum PI driving around simple 5 spoke wheels way back in the 80's. The Viper had sculpted wheels in '90. The auto industry should at least be there by now or beyond.
I push to improve. I don't like seeing everybody driving around cars that basically all look the same. Cars that have looked the same for decades.

It isn't time consuming and tedious work to separate the car from the background. If you're working smart you should have multiple layers, one being the background so just hide that then export.

Yeah well, I guess I'm not smart CFHay. I'm not professionally trained at these software drawing programs. Just self taught. I wasn't thinking this far ahead either. I didn't no how far I would take the design or how much time I would spend on it. It just started with a couple smudges with my finger on my laptop.
Using layers doesn't make someone a good designer. And not using them doesn't disqualify someone from being good. I can come up with original ideas, much more advanced than anything online, and I am good enough at drawing them to convey the idea. Never said I was the best illustrator. And don't judge me by what you see here. I won't put anything really advanced online.

Yeah, well, I'm not smart CF. I'm not professionally trained at these software drawing programs. Just self taught. I wasn't thinking this far ahead either. I didn't no how far I would take the design or how much time I would spend on it. It just started with a couple smudges.
You took the CF editors C8 render and used the smudge tool to crudely reshape the image which is why you do not have "layers" and also why the "floor" is identical to the CF image.
Had you actually "drawn" the car design as claimed, you would have at least one version of the car only image.
The crime is not that you attempted to express your artistic vision and ideas which are welcome, no matter how crude and amateurish , but that you claimed to have designed it from scratch and disparaged others work.
The exorcise here was again, to "guess" at what was hiding under the camo of the test car...not to design a "different c8.
Your boasts of being the greatest designer of all time were tolerated because most here do not want to crush your feelings...but take the hint and be nice and people will be nice to you.
Humility goes a long way my friend.
