C8 cost
Too many things go wrong with the C7 ZO6. I think it is because GM tried to build a 120k car for 80k. Will the C8 be a 100k+ car priced at 100k+ so quality and performance are not sacrificed? The C7 ZO6 has turned into a bandaid mobile. My C6 ZO6 is getting old and will need to be replaced. I don't mind paying 100k+ for a car as long as I get value for my money. Thoughts anyone.

The 8th Gen Corvette should be revealed in January 2020 coming out later that year as a 2021 model. The base model should be priced around $60,000.

Enjoyment is the number one reason to purchase any car. I can enjoy driving my $60,000 Corvette, I am afraid the enjoyment will fade when the purchase price approaches $100,000 and I start worrying about blemishes, etc.

8th Gen as in mid-engine, or next gen. of current front engine car?

^^^ 8th Gen Corvette, not the ME. I'm pretty certain we'll see the ME revealed early 2018 as a 2019 model with very limited production. The ME is not the 8th Gen Corvette.

I wouldn't call the c7 z06 bandaid mobile....now if you dig your c6 z06...that I can understand...
I believe the c8 will be offered in rear mid engine design...
First out of the gate will be the most expensive model and after initial demand is taken care of at msrp....
Lower priced less powerful models will be offered.
JMO and I know nothing of fact on the c8...
If I were you...I would enjoy your present ride.,.and then pick up a rear mid engine c8 when it becomes available at a price you want to pay.

There are numerous media sources that refer to the "C8 Mid Engine" and everyone believes them even though they've been wrong many times before and will be wrong many times again. As for this forum, until something is announced, all future product discussion that is not C7 takes place here. From the description of the C8 General Discussion Forum: "The place to discuss the next generation of Corvette, be it mid-engine, Zora, or whatever form it make take."

Personally, I would love to see GM build a world beating mid-engine vehicle - something that is 3,200 lbs or less, has 850 hp from a supercharged flat plane crank V-8 with a DCT. Limit production to 500 per year and bring them to market for $350,000 - undercutting the Ford GT, and every other true supercar in price, while outperforming them at every level.
To me, competing the the NSX & R8 makes no sense - those cars, while mid-engine, don't on average perform any better than the C7-Z06.

^^^ Don't be surprised to see Acura release a "high performance" version of the NSX. The current 500 HP ICE is not "high performance". They have too much money(and pride) invested in the car to let it die on the vine this early in it's career.
Take for example the Mercedes AMG GT. First they released the GT with 456 HP, then the GT S with 503 HP, and now the GT R with 577 HP, that did the Ring in 7:10. I bet they have an ace up their sleeve if the pot gets bigger. If a ME Corvette wants to play with the AMG GT R(FE), it had better come in at less than $200K, and sell around 2k anually.

A manufacturer can choose to make the same profit by selling more units at less profit per unit or fewer units at more per unit. Right now the vette is more for less. In the future they might decide to go to the Viper model and price most people out of the vette. I bought a bare bones Stingray C7. It is a wonderful car, very powerful and handles very well. I prefer the styling to the wider Z06 and copy cat GS. A mid engine is only going to make the car even more difficult to keep cool and the benefits in handling will be apparent only at the envelope is pushed. Mostly, it is something that feeds bragging rights for the non-tracking owner. I see only greater chance of mechanical problems, worse overheating and cabin noise and heat, and nightmare costs when anything goes wrong.

^^^^^ GM has publically stated their position. When asked if they were going to build the track car(C6 Z06x concept car) they said they build cars in high volumes.

And I do NOT think the Zora will be the C8 for a number of reasons, I think the C8 will be a front engine rear or all wheel drive car with a base in that $60K range that debuts c. 2021-22.

Should be interesting to see what the corvette team releases as a c8...
The wide ranging proposals of vehicles is exciting.
I'd say GM marketing has created quite the buzz about the brand....
The viper model failed.....whereas the Dodge Challenger hellcat succceeded as the brands halo vehicle. Some would suggest it's not only the high hp numbers but the relatively affordability of the hellcat that sssisted its success as a halo vehicle....the new demon has just added to the desirability of the product,,,
I also see fords 450 grand Ford GT model as a halo model recently...
Dodges hellcat and it's stablemate the demon...have far better impact as a halo vehicle for its brand...
Just my observations...pricing on halo vehicles does matter with regards to their effectiveness to entice buyers to an entire brand...

Not to mention, their dealerships are going to be able to handle it better than Chevrolet dealerships.
