Default Juxtaposition

I have a '14 vette, and our other car is a '13 Prius......the renaissance of the high powered internal combustion engined performance car while we head in the (inevitable) direction of driverless cars (which will probably not need to resemble cars as they are now) will bring us to an interesting intersect in the next couple of decades.

I will someday tell my grandson how cars were actually controlled manually and were propelled by a continuous series of explosions while carrying dangerously flammable liquids...geez

GM's answer to the Ford GT? I see limited production and super high price tag (relative to a C7). Just my speculation of course.

Replaced by high voltage batteries that can electrocute the unwary and computers that might need to be rebooted while traveling at highway speeds . . . .

Seriously, if we ever get there we will find other dangers inherent in moving through space at high rates of speed. Likely whatever we come up with in the future will be safer, but it will not be risk free.

I have many friends and clients at GM. No one is willing to jeopardize their career to talk about this. So, with all due respect let me echo hiperf406, Dream On!

Well, I didn't believe it until I saw the "I swear" statement. Now I'm a believer.

I agree with every word in the above piece.

"Remember, GM's first mid-engine sports car was the Fiero."

I hope this isn't the final design, this is just not to my liking.

I might add to my previous post that what makes the Corvette the car that it is today is the fact that it's a world-class sports car that can perform or even out-perform cars that cost two, three, or even four times as much and is far easier and far less costly to own and maintain. A new Vette is affordable if you are middle class. The engineering and R&D costs alone for a mid-engine Vette would make it unaffordable to the average Corvette owner today and no service department mechanic employed by GM would have the expertise to fix a mid-engine car that's the caliber of a Euro super car. Even a one-off mid-engine Vette would be a waste of resources for GM as it wouldn't sell nearly as well.

A lot of Lambo styling cues.

Read the Road and Track link I posted.

Also, ask any owner of a mid-engine sports car. They are VERY expensive to maintain. I have friends who have Lamborghinis and Porsches and while they can afford to maintain them, they are paying a lot more than I am to do so.
