At what point during the show do they introduce new models? The show is 2 weeks long with multiple events.

Best guess would be Monday 1/15 or Tuesday 1/16. Wednesday 1/17 at the latest.

C7 ZR1 will be shown at the Detroit Autoshow this coming January. It's a 2019 model. Mid-engine comes later.

That "poll" and "pole" are pronounced the same way. That's funny? Also it's brake not "break," also not funny.

After all this time, this is still troubling you?

It's not still troubling me. I forgot about it until I came across this thread today. I still don't see where it fits in -- it's not funny. BTW, I can't believe you're in the path of totality and you're not stepping outside to see the eclipse. It's a remarkable experience. This will be my eighth. I'll send you a pair of eclipse glasses for free if you'd like.

I think you're confusing me with a fellow who lives in Lincoln City.
IIRC, his forum name is "Adventureposuer."
Awhile back, he DID express interest in the eclipse.

He's having an eclipse party. I'd be worried about morning fog on the coast.

You're right to worry about Lincoln City getting fog.
Although (again, if IIRC) he indicated he lived on Devil's Lake (slightly inland).
You might query him and ask?

Factory is going to be closed for 13 weeks setting up the new flexible manufacturing line, then they have to catch up with 2018 production. Theoretically, the new line will permit them to build two body styles at the same time. GM said a couple of years ago the C8 and last of the C7 would be produced jointly for a couple of years so we could see the C8 as a 2019 model introduced in 2018. However, if the pilot/test models they have running around at the various proving grounds aren't like the production model they may not have enough time to run a pilot C8 through the new manufacturing line and do some testing with it before the show.

Remember GM did the fancy C7 intro at Detroit in 2013 where they paraded the cars to an old factory for a press intro.

I don't see them doing an intro for a new model at a Corvette Show or Auto Race no matter how big the event is. There just aren't enough of the right type of journalists paying attention to those events. The people that cover the Detroit Auto Show don't go to Carlisle or the Homecoming and they most likely don't go to many races.

The 97 C5 was introduced at the 97 Detroit Show and was on sale 2 months later so it isn't set in stone when they might choose to do an intro.

The way things are going, the title of this thread should be "Will the C7, ZR-1 be introduced at the 1/18 Detroit Auto Show for MY 2019?

Since the new factory expansion won't be ready until 2019, it seems impossible for it to be a MY2019 which needs to be shipped starting 2018. Likely a MY2020 shipping late 2019 but wouldn't be surprised if they release the ME as a MY2021 in July 2020.

BTW, how's the smoke from the British Colombia fires in Salem by now? I'm worried about that screwing up eclipse viewing and shooting in 12 days.

The smoke has been very noticeable the last week.
