Will C8 mid engine be introduced at 1/18 Detroit Auto Show for MY2019?
#2
January seems way to far out for the ZR1.
The C8 could very well be introduced at a show next year...

The ME Caddy, probably yes.
The Corvette Version (C8) in 2019.
Just a guess.

No, way to early. The C7 is only in its 5th year for 2018...id say 2021, or 2020 at the earliest. Corvettes aren't like other cars that get a facelift every couple years.
C5 - 8 years
C6 - 9 years
C7 - let's say 7 years? That would take the current model to at least 2020..

The heading "C8 mid-engine " continues to be misleading. We expect the basic $50k-$60k affordable big volume Corvette to get a comparably priced replacement some time around 2020 or 2021. Wouldn't that next generation high volume Corvette model be the C8, not the additional premium ME model that we expect as a 2019? If we referred to the more expensive ME line of cars as C8 there would always be two generations on sale at the same time (and it wouldn't be logical for the basic high volume Corvette to evolve from C7 to C9).
Soon Harlan and Tadge will finally admit the ME exists. Maybe then they'll let us in on a proper designation for the premium mid-engine model. Maybe there's a GM insider here who can give us a hint of what to call it?

Yes that's what I was trying to say in post #6. Unfortunately this thread/poll begins with "C8 mid engine", causing confusion.
This "C8 General Discussion" forum has been trying to deal with 3 different future products so it's no wonder a lot of people get confused:
1) the ZR1 version of the C7, being shown soon, probably in August.
2) the new upscale mid engine model from Bowling Green, hopefully being shown in January, correct designation still unknown.
3) the C8, the high volume C7's replacement that is still years away.
The happy C7 owners here need not feel threatened with obsolescence, the C7 has years of production left.

Too optimistic on timing for the ME. It's coming, but not as soon as many wish and many are speculating.

You probably should have stopped after just the one picture of the pole. I probably should have stopped after the first picture I put on here too
1/18 Detroit Auto Show. That's getting close. Where's the ZR1?
(drawings are in progress, some are getting closer to the presentable point. Impatient, didn't want to wait till they were more refined)

I'm not sure that the best way to introduce a new Corvette is at an auto show. How about at Corvette events? Rumbling around on the grass. Or better, parked at the end of a row of Corvettes with a cover over it. Just give a peak to passersby. That would build excitement.
