right... the CAD images of the nose and tail...
Hey...that's what we got now too!
Can't remember how far out those were from the reveal. Well, we still have a few months... but I wont hold my breath.

16 Vettes and counting…..
With this rear engine vette looking so close to production, seems like it would hurt ZR1 sales....but perhaps less so if the Rear Engine car debuts as a "base model" variant of the rear engine platform.
I believe that is what we are looking at...a base model rear engine car. Otherwise, I don't see people laying down 6 figures for the ZR1 with this thing looking so close to production.

My guess is that if it is a top of line model that will be introduced first, there is a possibility it could be this January, with production starting within a year of the announcement. If we'll see a base car first, then I don't think it would be until 2019.
Other mysterious factors, though, are the shortened 2018 run, a possible shortened 2019 run, and the re-opening of the factory to public tours next fall. And then there's the chance that it's a Cadillac.

Hoping the rear looks nothing like a C7, no disrespect intended.

Yeah, its just taking too long to happen. This and another car I'm interested in, seems like its taken forever to get a pic of the actual car.
Hoping this ME looks great and is stout from the get go, with an engine option north of 650HP. I have a good feeling with the size and the relative weight of similar models, that it will weigh around 3400-3500 lbs. Price doesn't bother me, but its gotta look good and perform excellent. I like the C7, but i just couldnt get around the rear end of the car enough to get one. It had too much going on back there. the old rule applies here, for me anyway, 'make it simple, stupid'

Drifting
I am going to speculate that eventually the ME C8 will be powered by a couple different sized twin turbo V8, say a 525-550 cHP base model and say a 750-800 cHP top end model. This would be a natural progression from where we are today with the FE C7 Z51/Z06/ZR1 models. As far as the Cadillac version of the ME C8, I would fully expect a hybrid power plant, with heavy electric motor boost. This may also explain the long drawn out development time period and a launch in 12-14 months, if we are lucky.
As far as styling (always a point of personal taste and contention) of the C7 is concerned, it has never been my favorite. I think Kirk Bennion and crew gave us a design that is simply too edgy, too chiseled, details that are too busy and overdone, with elements that were not very well blended - function over form and almost as if there were "too many cooks in the kitchen". Because I am more old school I suppose, I much prefer the smoother, simpler and dare I say more elegant lines of the C6. I believe Tom Peters and crew took what John Cafaro and crew started with in the C5 and gave us a true future classic in the C6. As always YMMV.

GM Authority has an article about worlds fastest drag race with 12 cars including several of your exotic ME cars they use the camero with 650 hp, but a Grand Sport vett with 460 hp. Getting tired of always seeing top models from other companies racing against base model vetts. By the way the Telsa won the event the vett came in 11th and the Camero 5th

Unmodified C8 of the Year 2021 Finalist
2018 C7 of Year Finalist
This rendering someone created with round C7 tail lights adapted to the ME? spied rear facia could result. Please forgive my poor editing attempt,
But you get the idea.
C7
ME
Edit: And with that the rear spoiler looks incorporated, not added on to the top, extending from side to side. Thus the look I like of my C7 Base with only the small spoiler will be gone.

Those who are convinced the ME reveal will be sooner rather than later, consider that for the C7...
...we had the Jalopnik rendering in December, 2011...
...spy photos of the C7 in the wild with full camo as early as January, 2012 (and maybe earlier but I got tired of searching LOL)...
...GM press teasers that the C7 would be revealed on 1.13.13 that started being released on October 18, 2012.

I like this drawing ok. I just started reading some of this, so I don't know if firstvettesoon is still acting like an A-hole or not. But I can say this is a good drawing and the design has some good things about it.

This sketch below might have had a little influence on him. But I'm not going to get on him too hard for that. It demonstrates an idea. He's a better illustrator than I am. I haven't read all of the latest comments on here yet, so I don't know if he was trying to use my sketch to improve his drawing or not.
