Burning Brakes
I never would have noticed it with that camo if you didn't mention it. All of that ventilation would really improve the track capability of this car, considering that there have been complaints about brake fade on track days before. Hopefully the tires aren't the 1-lap-wonder Sport Cup 2's...

Why no spats as I thought spats were preferred?

I personally like the look of the spats. I paint mine in Carbon Flash and they look great with the Rest of the black paint.
But spats probably were done for the same reason that your C6 has a plastic interior with cobalt steering wheel and seats with about the same support as a KMART lawn chair.
GM was just being cheap. I sure you can relate as your cheap too that's why you drive a obsolete Corvette rather than a technologically superior C7.
Yes we get it you hate the C7 and the spats!! Seeing how you criticized them countless time before.
oh you forgot mention how much you hate the tail lamps in your latest put down of the C7.
You and JoeC5 would get along great!!

We've seen wings from mild to wild. I'm wonder if what they are doing is shipping up the wing with different mounts that you can put on it to raise/lower it depending on what you want to use the car for.

I notice the canards on the front splitter of both cars pictured are not nearly as high as those on the Z06. They're about as high as the ones on the Grand Sport, which seems odd if the car is going to be faster than the Z06. The canards eliminate turbulent airflow off the ends of the splitter and therefore reduce drag. It's the same principle as the winglets on aircraft.
Also, the wheel is definitely stamped ZR1.
As far as the brakes, carbon ceramic might be an option, just like on the Z06 and Grand Sport. These could just be standard steel rotors.
Rear vents and exhaust tips look just like Z06/Grand Sport.
Lastly, the hood. Could that be a transparent panel rather than a shaker? If so, it would certainly be a tip of the hat to the prior generation.

Why the delay???
Only 2 reasons come to mind that make sense.
1) There's a problem that they're having trouble resolving so they're putting miles on test mules to see if they can resolve it.
2) GM wants all ZR1s to come from the revised production line. So no ZR1s until next year.
Anyone else?

Great shots! Some observations...
1. Front intakes look super aggressive up close.
2. Two-gill shark side vents should look cool once unveiled.
3. Spat-less front wheel wells should be a much cleaner look.
4. Don't know why they keep camo-ing the rear end. I guess they just don't want to give a clean look at the big and little wings.
5. Given that the C6 Z06 sales were gutted between the C6 GS and the C6 ZR1, it certainly makes sense that they would not introduce until the ZR1 is rolling off the assembly line.
6. The best evidence I have seen so far that the ZR1 will have an exposed supercharger.

Maybe the car is going to be called a ZR1 and GM is going to drop the Z06. By replacing the Z06 with a new model, to correct the Z06's shortcomings, GM is not obligated in any way, to "fix" the old Z06's as they discontinued it.
By discontinuing the Z06 and releasing a new model, GM is not admitting that there is a problem with the 2015. 2016, 2017, 2018 Z06's cooling, etc, as it is common practice for the auto industry to drop models and add new models.

I didn't see it at first, either, but thought it looked like a zero. Then I realized the 1 is raised inside a box. If you look closely, you can see that what appears to be the center of the zero is actually the numeral 1.
