I can't see the reveal of the ZR1 and the C8 at the same time...it doesn't seem logical.
However, there is the possibility (probability?) of a Caddy Hybrid ME and the ZR1 being shown in the next 6 months at 2 different shows.

What's also puzzling is the expansion of the factory in Bowling Green. If they are only going to continue to build the C7 alongside the C8 or ME for a year or two, then something will most likely be taking the C7's place. For a factory that has the ability to produce 30K cars per year, it makes no sense to be selling only a high-end ME car that will probably not sell in those numbers.

So either the C8 will be a new front-engined car that is sold alongside the higher priced ME, or it will be mid-engined and priced closer to the existing C7. Regardless, I do think the expansion indicates that more than one car will be built at Bowling Green and it could be a second Corvette or a Cadillac. The next several months should be very interesting.

There are a bunch of government regulations that will keep that model off the road. What gets built may be close but that nose won't pass muster with all of the bumper, crash and pedestrian rules.

The only thing I'm not quite sure of is the front end. The rest of the car looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing it.

On this forum those that seem to have some knowledge say this is fake news and the C8 will be a front engine continuation of C7. Someone is totally wrong. Will be fascinating to find out who it is. GM is doing a great job of keeping their plans secret this time around.

TO add to what you said, the author loses credibility with the prediction that the ME car will be introduced within months of the C7 ZR1 introduction, at about 1/2 to 3/4 the cost of the C7 ZR1. That string of assumptions is absurd. They're using the Corvette ME as bait to sell magazines, pure and simple. I don't believe they know more than anyone on this forum, probably a lot less.
Right now there is probably some Corvette exec reading that article shaking their head and chuckling to themselves "Good, they're clueless".

This certainly looks like a leak from the design team. If you expand the photo you can see more detail thats normally not on renderings from a independant artist. It definitely has the wheel arches from the C3 and even the nose protrudes somewhat like the C3 from a side view. Yet they are moving the design much closer to a Lamborghini Huracan look which was also done with the C7 design. I remember looking at the Jalopnik leaked C7 renderings and thinking that the design had Lambo Gallardo influence. I also remember most people on Corvette Forum were in a state of denial about that design. A lot of people did not believe the Corvette was going to look like that. Remember how many were howling about the tail lights. People actually thought they looked like Camaro tail lights. Here's a remembrance of that 2011 article by Jalopnik that got the Forum all revved up. Rereading the comments is revealing as I would estimate 80% of the 871 comments were negative on the C7 renderings. HA, look at the huge success of the C7 now. Most people cannot discern good design as the C7 is the best looking Vette ever and is a massive success.

Agreed that this version is way over the edge for a GM product and won't happen. It serves to keep the interest up however.

It looks even harder to get in and out of than my Z (but it sure is purdy ).

True.
GM has been highly effective at keeping the fans in the dark.

More truth.

Here is a Jag concept that looks very similar to this rendering:

It's a very pretty car, but there is nothing there at all that screams "Corvette." It could be anything. This is just another example of somebody's idea that has no basis in reality. The article itself is just more speculation based more on wishes and dreams than any concrete information.

Appears to be just another magazine fantasy rendering with no real Corvette DNA.

That being said, I wouldn't kick it out if it showed up on my driveway!

Totally agree. Mid engine speculation aside, and with all due respect to those that take the time to render these vehicles, I take them about as seriously as the instructions on a Hot Pocket.

This isn't too different than the pre-C7 era back in 2008-09 with rumors and renderings running wild if anyone wants to take a look a those pieces of work.

Default Count Me In

I'll take a Huracan knock off by Chevy for half price!
What would the C2s have looked like if they were as conservative as some people on this forum?

No different to this conservative as I love the C2 just as much now(I own one) as I did back in 1963-1967, when I couldn't afford one.

Better check the age of Bill Mitchell when the C2 was being designed. He was 47 in 1958. Or Harley Earl. He was 65 in 1958.

Larry Shinoda was only 28 in 1958, but he worked under the direction of his "elderly" boss who had final say on the C2's design.

The Corvette, back then, was not designed nor marketed for/to the "youngster" with no money, but to the "distinguished" middle aged man with money.

Who pissed off the moderator? I swear it wasn't me.

Let's all just agree the front grill looks like a drunk blowfish.

I don't like it either. The car looks like a cockroach. Hope the PC police don't come down on me.

Here is a novel idea; design a car you can actually see out of. Rear vision seems to be a low priority.

They will probably use a camera to see rearward.
